Yeah, it sucks. The Internet is being increasingly divided in two, because some payment processors will support NSFW (for significantly higher fees), and others just won't, so websites have to make a decision as to what they'll support. Sadly, it's not even their fault. It's mostly not the payment processors' fault. It's the acquiring banks that have to be involved in every transaction. They don't want to receive payments (on behalf of the processor) for absolutely anything. They're mainstream banks, and a lot of them just say no to NSFW, or they impose their own restrictions because of reputational risk, and sometimes regulatory scrutiny. Europe is less prudish about this stuff for cultural reasons. But their payment processors are also usually more expensive, especially for American companies. If only we could use crypto for everything, but clearly crypto isn't being widely adopted for a variety of reasons. Most people's best bet is to stay under the radar and always have a backup plan.

And of course I return to Subscribestar being the most recent victim of the NSFW crack down. I can’t be mad at them because if they had the choice, they wouldn’t have changed their TOS, but their ability to process payments was removed last month and wasn’t gonna come back unless they made those changes. This is so tragic man…it really is. Like what is the problem with NSFW artists creating NSFW art??? Why is there such a big problem??? Because of children? If that’s the case, PARENT YOUR FUCKING CHILDREN BETTER! Don’t punish adults who aren’t harming anybody because your child’s IPad knows them better than you do. You can’t stick a child in front of a TV and give them an IPad, cell phone, or computer and expect them NOT to get into shit they shouldn’t be in…their kids, that’s what they fucking do. I’m just tired of being told i can’t be an adult the way I want to be an adult on the internet because of parents being shitty parents. Sick of it.

@gelbooru It's not even the payment providers mainly. MasterCard and Visa do allow NSFW (with an additional annual merchant fee). It's primarily the acquiring banks (mainstream banks used by payment processor) in the transactions who pressure the payment processors.

Guys, it's not SubscribeStar who is restricting you, it is the payment providers. These demands are being pushed by third parties. Don't blame and harass the victims of censorship.

Things that can't be on SubscribeStar now (in fictional media): -Incest -Rape -Some types of furries -Gore They added a big section about compliance with payment processors, so we know who's behind it... again...

This is what SubscribeStar.adult is for. Censorship sucks. Unfortunately, the internet is getting increasingly split in two, with many creators left in limbo. It's not the platforms' fault; not even the payment processors. It's mainly the acquiring banks. Those banks have far too much power. If they aren't completely okay with anything, it affects all their transactions with the payment processor, which affects the platform, which affects creators' lives.
