Ramadan is in 2 days — Ramadan Mubarak to everyone who celebrates 🌙 And to those who don’t, here’s why we do Ramadan is a month of the islamic calendar (lunar calendar) in which Muslims fast from sunrise to sundown While fasting, you don’t: drink water, eat anything, do se*, and try to be on your best behavior. you eat before sunrise then nothing until sunset. Why? - to grow spiritually and religiously. Simple things like water and food are taken for granted by us daily. by fasting, you learn to be grateful for all the things you’re blessed with that others don’t have. Kinda like a life detox Why the month of ramadan? - Muslims believe the Quran was revealed to our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during this month - The day after Ramadan is Eid where muslims celebrate the end of Ramadan and often exchange gifts (our biggest holiday so kinda like our christmas but different reasoning) - during this month, all prayers are rewarded more than usual (like 2x cod exp) so most muslims are up throughout the night praying / doing extra credit Secular reasoning & benefits: - same benefits as intermittent fasting - fasting itself is hella good for your body and organs - gratefulness - detox My personal reasoning: - fasting really does teach you to be grateful. it’s insane how fortunate we are to have food let alone money, crypto, internet, etc. by taking away one of these blessings temporarily, it really teaches you to never take such things for granted. - at like 2pm on a thursday when you got no food in your system, this ideology really hits lmaooo - yearly reset. 1 month out of 12 to lock back in mentally/religiously and reset yourself. whatever you did in the other 11 months, let’s start again here and prepare for the next 11. - we also believe the devil is locked up during this month. helps you see what is truly your own human flaws compared to the excuse of bad influence. fantastic for self assessment of bad habits How to appreciate Ramadan without celebrating: - try fasting one day! it really only takes one day to see the vibe and the benefits - respect those who are fasting. bc we got no food in us, we lagging a bit and might have stank breath lol - time zones might be off due to to increased prayer. were basically up at sunrise to sunset everyday praying/fasting with naps between, so sleep schedules suffer greatly lol nice love you guys
