@gamer_lafan Japanese candy cabs are beautiful. Unfortunately in USA they are rare, and the very few that may appear for sale seem very expensive and not in great condition.

When I play arcade games at home, I could just set them to free play, but I actually prefer inserting coins myself. The sound of the coin rolling in and the credit counter going up is a huge part of the experience for me. It really brings back the feeling of being in an arcade back then. That’s why I even use an old cigarette ashtray as a coin holder. At first, I bought a chair that looked similar to an arcade stool, but the height felt strangely uncomfortable. So I ended up ordering actual Japanese arcade stools from a company in Japan, and the height is just perfect👌 Once you own an arcade cabinet, collecting little accessories like that becomes part of the fun too. And when you hang game posters on the wall, the whole atmosphere becomes incredible😆

@revenant_MMXX I've had my Superstation One for a couple of months and love it. I ordered mine the second pre-orders went live. For those waiting - it is worth it. I have the transparent blue version. It has been very reliable and fun to use. Now waiting on the dock to ship.

The SuperStation is $200 and supports any MiSTer core you want, so basically anything prior to 6th gen, as well as retro handhelds from that era and many retro PCs as well.

@Megu_rikka From USA: I have loved Japanese art and culture since I was a kid, especially Japanese videogames. Also love Japanese food. I'm old now, my body is half broken, but I still dream of visiting Japan before I die.

@HaangEmHiigh The outline looks wrong to me, unnatural and distracting when looking at the cohesive image of characters and background environment.

@alphafox I wish someone told me that 20+ years ago when I threw out and/or sold so much of my beloved gaming stuff, and have regretted it ever since. I try to forgive myself since at the time I was dealing with moving and family dying etc.

Never sell your old consoles or throw out the boxes. Thank me later.

@MrMidnight1188 I've also thought about that, but I think I will save that money toward maybe getting a NeoGeo candy cabinet someday instead. Hard to find one in good condition for a reasonable price in USA, but would still be cheaper than buying many original AES carts.

After exhaustive series of months rebuilding the harness, PSU, controls, lighting, CRT & cleaning, the #PANDEMiCADE ROBOTRON cocktail is ready for another 40 years! These are an electrical #arcade challenge! There's so many potential failure points in these older machines.

@tapper_p I’m talking about actual AES bootlegs, not the Plaion carts. It’s been a problem for a while and people seemingly get fooled monthly based on FB and forum posts. Lots of confusion around conversion carts too.

With the AES+ arrival I fear that there’s going to be a small wave of new people getting duped by AES bootlegs. Long term though? It will hopefully bring more awareness on that front.

@matthewhenzel I still remember seeing photos in games magazines ~1990 and being so impressed with the visuals, especially that boss. I don't think the actual game is that great but it's definitely an iconic part of the NeoGeo's early days.

Playing #CyberLip on AES (240p on HD display). This is one of my favorite #NeoGeo games! Sure, it can be completed in >30 minutes (depending on the elevators). For a 1990 game, the GFX, sound, and digitized speech are fantastic! It's also great with a friend. 9/10 IMO.

@JM_NewBreed I was lucky to have grabbed some NGPC promo items during its launch in 1999. I was managing a retail gaming store. We got a bunch of NGPC English flyers. I don't think I've ever seen these posted anywhere else. I suppose they are rare? I also got a shirt, hat, and mascot beanies.
