@jaderants I think the better approach would be voting with wallet and action. You could fund/make the kind of games you want to see. There is a vast variety of games. Quit looking at ones you don't like and look at ones you do.

wanting to see attractive characters is okay but demanding that every game in existence be lustful is a sin and i’m sick of pretending like it’s okay. real women and normal looking women/characters are being bullied relentlessly because of it. it stopped being about politics a long time ago. we are now dealing with degenerates.

@ghostof142 @combat1921 @woke_bitcoiner @dhh The world in fact has not. Your ignorance really is unbounded. Go back to your script kiddie apps WASM is not a joke many high performance applications use it successfully

Narrative violation: "The type safety we gave up hasn’t been noticeable in any concrete way yet, especially considering our test coverage has never been better." But exactly what we see with Rails and LLMs. They're a beautiful and effective combination. avi.press/posts/2026-07-…

@ghostof142 @combat1921 @woke_bitcoiner @dhh nasm no one is disagreeing with C being factors faster The disagreement is: not understanding why websites aren't written in it. You like abstraction above asm but refuse to accept anything above compiled? The web wouldn't exist with that ideology

@combat1921 @taproot1337 @woke_bitcoiner @dhh The point is false though. C is infinitely faster than Python and Ruby to a magnitude that's impossible to quantify. On the other hand one cannot even write modern software in ASM, its not cross platform and there is no interface for doing so.

@combat1921 @ghostof142 @woke_bitcoiner @dhh haha don't worry I am not going to try to convince you there. JS is a mistake He wanted to do a scheme like language and I think that would have been much better However with web assembly being allowed more access in the browser a more agnostic frontend world should emerge

@taproot1337 @ghostof142 @woke_bitcoiner @dhh My point was not about cython but that when we say "types" we normally just mean "static types" Although you actually can compile cython fully dynamically and get a small but incomplete perf benefit.

Pretty much my whole view on the type debate
Combat@combat1921

@taproot1337 @ghostof142 @woke_bitcoiner @dhh Yes, I see the argument you were intending to make, now. "Static types are actually a (cheap) abstraction over typeless assembly, and is often worth it, just as dynamic types are a (often cheap) abstraction over static types and is often worth it"

@taproot1337 @ghostof142 @woke_bitcoiner @dhh If you gave me $100 to come up with alternate interpretations of what you said initially, I legitimately think I would have given up before landing at anything related to that

@combat1921 @ghostof142 @woke_bitcoiner @dhh The entire point as you're proving is that there is a level of relative speed that you're willing to accept, which dynamic and rails gets for the internet 99% of the time.

@taproot1337 @ghostof142 @woke_bitcoiner @dhh If you told ghostof142 that C was too slow for some use case, and you needed to write a program in pure untyped assembly for the performance you needed, do you think he would go "haha, no adding types would make it faster"?

@combat1921 @ghostof142 @woke_bitcoiner @dhh he is arguing that there is never a point to anything but typed yes this cult is pushing that the dismissal of asm use is a perfect example of that 'no one uses that bro' well in fact we all do everyday ffmpeg

@combat1921 @ghostof142 @woke_bitcoiner @dhh static vs dynamic is really compiled vs not cython ... compiled which is why I brought up a compiled dynamic language too lisp which does get the same relative speed The point is people have many misconceptions about types and it leads to misguided zealotry and close mindedness

@taproot1337 @ghostof142 @woke_bitcoiner @dhh Speed is correct at the level of abstraction the conversation is actually happening at , dynamic vs static. The same way people say you "add types" to python with cython for a speedup despite it having types already.

@combat1921 @ghostof142 @woke_bitcoiner @dhh In fact by showing their assumptions about speed are incorrect I was attempting to get them to realize tradeoffs and there are plenty of reasons for dynamic languages which made the internet which I brought up very quickly in an attempt to open their minds

@combat1921 @ghostof142 @woke_bitcoiner @dhh But I did nothing of the sort. What about binary and asm makes anyone think dynamic typing? All they had to do was agree types are more for tests and that would be the end. The issue since we are bringing up implied arguments is theirs where there is never a reason for dynamic

@combat1921 @ghostof142 @woke_bitcoiner @dhh people seem to think types are in the base layer somehow otherwise I do not understand how they get this idea that types make it faster comiling does, types are tests, not speed
