KG enjoyed learning how Wilson Bentley persevered many winters to find a way to photograph snowflakes. We waited patiently for the perfect day to catch snowflakes & see their crystal formations. Today was the day and boy did it live up to the expectation! @HanwellSchool

KG from @HanwellSchool noticed a fallen tree during one of their exploratory walks through the woods of Hanwell Park. They contacted @HanwellNB to ask if they could chop the top of it off to bring back to their classroom. Permission was granted & off we went…

KG was so fortunate to have a number of local authors read their most recent publications to the class! @HanwellSchool

We ended our fairytale week with Pinocchio. Ss were amazed that I was in Rome this summer and brought the book back all the way from Italy! I surprised them with a “Tickle Trunk” of costumes today, which they absolutely loved! @HanwellSchool

Monday we read, The Three Little Pigs, and were challenged to build a house using only the materials put out on the rug. We worked in groups of 3 of course & our teacher transformed into a wolf & used an air cannon to test the strength of our structure. @HanwellSchool

Jack and the Beanstalk 🫘 was Tuesday’s Fairy Tale. Class challenge: build the tallest beanstalk. We also planted our 🌻plants. We planted the seeds on Earth Day and the Ss are still secretly hoping they turn into Truffula trees. @HanwellSchool

Each day this week, we delved into a fairy tale. On Wednesday we read Rapunzel. We then learned how to braid using pipe cleaners. Ss came up with the idea to connect all their braids to see if their hair would reach the ground from the playground tower! @HanwellSchool
