@parrysingh I’m planning my son’s Dastaar Bandi ceremony in Chandigarh this summer, and now I’m tempted to settle generational scores with a full desi band and orchestra at the after-party 😄 He’s a Canadian-confused desi, calls me “historical” every day…so yes, I’m blaming u for this idea!

A ‘shaadi ka band’ is playing outside. Aaj mere yaar ki shaadi hai. Teri rab ne bana di jodi. Mehendi laga ke rakhna. It seems the era of ‘shaadi ka band’ songs got over in the 90s.

I don’t have OCD, but anyone who comes back from traveling and puts their luggage on the bed is a big no for me. Airports, train stations, buses, cabs, that luggage has been everywhere, picking up dust, germs, and who knows what else. Please! Don’t do that.

This turned into a wonderful thread of ‘how to spend a Mumbai evening’. Thanks for all the suggestions (and the DMs) - including the funny ones like gate crashing a wedding or meet SRK So, what did I do? I used to be a regular in Mumbai till about 15 years ago, hence already quite familiar with the old haunts. So I headed to the Arts Cafe at NMACC. As a bonus, a young employee from Manipur, after hearing I’ve come from Singapore, gave me an impromptu tour of the whole place. I forgot to ask her name - but if anyone from NMACC is reading this, please give her a pat on the back. And while I’m not important enough to get an audience with SRK, I did find his scribble on the Arts Cafe wall rather interesting.

@parrysingh After a certain age, it’s less about money and more about purpose, once you’ve had money and realize it’s the simple things that truly make you happy.

This viral post misses the mark on a few fronts. It assumes that beyond a certain number - 10 crore, 100 crore, 1000 crore - everything you do is driven by greed. It also reduces happiness to just health and relationships, as if purpose vanishes once you have a certain amount of money. I won’t pretend there’s a universal number that’s ‘enough’. For some it’s 10, for others 100, for a few it’s far beyond. That’s personal. But here’s what I can say. Even after Rs. 100 crore, the desire to contribute doesn’t disappear. You still want to build, solve, and matter. That’s not greed. That’s a human instinct to be useful. After a point, work shouldn’t come at the cost of your health or relationships. But that also doesn’t mean stepping away from work. It means you finally earn the right to choose how much you work, what you work on, and why. Some principles worth considering: 1. Wealth buys choice, not closure. - It frees you from compulsion, not from purpose. 2. The opposite of greed isn’t idleness. It’s meaningful work. It means doing less of what drains you, and more of what feels worth doing. 3. Finally, balance isn’t about working less. It’s about working right

After 8-10 crore, your own home and a nice car, there is not much difference in the quality of life between you and billionaire investors like RK Damani. Time is the currency of life. Money is not. Both of you have limited amount of time on earth; infact you may have twice or more time than RK Damani, so you are richer than him. Dal roti is dal roti whether a billionaire eats or you do. Become financially independent, which is around 8-10cr. Have good food. Workout. Sleep well. Meet your parents and friends. That’s all there is to life. Greed has no end. Sooner you figure this out, happier you will be.

A simple principle of living needs to be taught to kids from an early age: “leave a place in the same or better condition than you found it.” Wipe the sink. Straighten the chair. Pick up the stray popcorn. Stay on the trail. Leave the forest as you found it. If we follow this everywhere - from bathrooms to meeting rooms, cinema halls to earth itself, the world would be so much more beautiful.

@DrSuneelDhand He is citing it from meta-analysis of observational study which comes with a drawback. It only summarizes the studies included in it. If the underlying observational studies are biased, it will only produce a more precise, but still biased estimate error!
