📍Mining, farming, and construction have delivered another record year for Delta Beverages. Delta’s sales in the year to March: • Lager sales volumes up 19%, “supported by increased consumer incomes and stable pricing”. Sales are now “exceeding historical sales levels”. Demand is outpacing supply, pushing the company to invest in new facilities in Bulawayo and Southerton. • The top-selling lager? Carling Black Label • Sorghum beer volumes rose 19% to 462 million litres. It’s a new record, beating 1998’s 450 million litres • Soft drinks volumes rose 14%, while Maheu sales more than doubled, up 104% 🚨Sugar tax: Delta paid the equivalent of US$30 million in sugar tax. 📌ZiG usage continues to fall: 94% of Delta’s sales were in USD, up from 80% the previous year. Delta revenues reached US$1.091 billion, after adding the whole Schweppes business What’s driving Delta’s sales? Gold, farming, construction and remittances. Says Delta: “The improved agricultural outturn, including higher cereal and wheat output, further supported purchasing power, particularly in rural markets. The construction sector has experienced notable growth, underpinned by the emergence of new settlements, which reflects substantial household-level and corporate sector investments driven by multifaceted sources of disposable incomes.”
