Like a lot of people, if the Twitter API is deliberately dead and won’t be revived, then that’s the end of Twitter for me. Which would be sad.
Feeling for all the devs like @tapbots who’ve had their business models destroyed overnight.

@p_realism @LedermanHarvey Pick any and get started. You can migrate your account between servers later (migration is a specifically supported action). The server you're on does control your "local timeline", but that's just one part of the experience.

@gcarraro Don't care at this point. I should update the 302 to a 301. 😉
English

@TathamOddie i forgot, does twitter delete tweets or deactivate accounts when links to competing platforms are posted 🤔🤪

@shanselman @johnmisczak The follow across instances needs to create a subscription, which goes out in a queue, so it shows "Pending" for a moment until the queue is all processed and everything is in sync.
English

@johnmisczak may be a hiccup. What's your name on mastodon, I'll check
English

@DakarRally Lolz. Just been down this rabbit hole 48hrs longer. 😂
Hola from @tatham" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">aus.social/@tatham

Tried to join mastodon.online and I think the '+' in my email broke it? That or the server is experiencing a lot of traffic thanks to he who must not be named?
English

@DakarRally Those smaller servers will give you a better local feed too; not just load balancing.
English

@DakarRally I'd suggest a smaller server. The mastodon.online and mastodon.social instances are taking a lot of traffic from centralised-style expectations. Pick a region (like aus.social) or a topic (like hci.social).

@TathamOddie @MitchPommers I'm yet to deploy one, just setting up test devices to see if I can use them to control my old clock radio, and the LED strip (although that I have to do power injection on)
English

I've reached the "buying random esp32/esp8266 devices from AliExpress and flashing with @esphome_" stage of my smart home journey with @home_assistant
English

@MitchPommers @slace Both for flashing, and ongoing power supply, I love the M5Stack Atom Lite devices:
shop.m5stack.com/products/atom-…
The couple of extra $, often saves you a power supply anyway.
English

@slace What do you have as a flashing set up? Getting the right pins connected and disabling other chips on the board is so time consuming on some of the devices I've flashed.
English

@TheHookUp1 @Sonos You need to disable wifi on the ARC if you want to prevent that.
English

@TheHookUp1 @Sonos Look at the Unifi network diagram and you'll see all of the other speakers now wired in to the same port as the ARC. It will be projecting its own Sonos mesh and then bridging them all in.
English

Anyone know of a good resource for reading about how @Sonos networking works? I recently decided to hardwire my ARC and now all my other Sonos speakers do not show which AP they are connected to, but they all have unique IP addresses on the correct VLAN. 🤔
