If I am buying OGDC at a price of 325 Rs to sell it in a profit at 350 Rs if it goes up and to book loss at 300 Rs if it goes down then this is called "Price Risk" that means I am ready to take a risk of 25 Rs to earn reward of 25 Rs. (This is what traders typically do, they take price risk). On the other hand, If I am buying OGDC at a price of 325 Rs with the story that Rekodiq would achieve financial close and would become operational in next 5 years, if this story keeps on going as expected, I will earn profit, if it doesn't, I would book loss. This type of risk is called "Intrinsic Value". (This is what investors typically do, they take intrinsic value risk). The problem here is that, Investors buy with the intention of "Intrinsic Value Risk" but if the price of that same asset falls, they sell it by taking "Price Risk". This is human behavior and this is why, it is important to first understand your own human nature and then you decide if you have an Investor Mindset or "Trader Mindset". Once you decide about your nature, then set an investment philosophy for yourself and then finally based on that philosophy, decide an investment strategy. This one time exercise will save you alot of money from loosing and then earning profits later on. Whenever you buy any share of a company, write it down the reasons for buying and a clear entry and exit strategy. Once written clearly, remain stick to it. Successful Investing is not a rocket science. It is a framework that you develop based on your own nature and risk profile.

One explanation could be that all the spending on AI compute build out is causing some of that growth which can lead to a question of what happens when that spending start plateauing!

An argument could be made that the information industry (which includes software and programming) has seen majority of layoffs but there has been an uptick in the hiring rate in the same industry as well which is somewhat in sync with the layoffs.

A lot of the kay offs being attributed to AI productivity gains may in-fact be course correction after excess hiring in the post-pandemic demand and in other cases a cost cutting approach to deploy saved profits towards compute build out.
