@Ben_Scallan Shocking expecting a leader to lead. For me a leader is someone that can galvanise the people, get the people behind them. Can we say that about any of the party leaders we have?

You're absolutely correct, Mary; sometimes politicians have to make the right choice even if it's unpopular. I completely agree with you. But it's also the obligation of a leader to try and convince the public that what they're doing is the right decision, and to communicate clearly how it's in the nation's interest. But our media and political class (Government and Opposition alike) generally don't even attempt that - they say "We have to do it because the EU says so", trot out a few extremely lazy fallacious lines that are more slogans than actual arguments, and if you aren't satisfied with that, they just default to shouting at you and calling you names. We don't have real debates in this country, there's virtually no good faith attempt to actually persuade people who are skeptical of these policies or compromise in any way.
Mary Ryan@circlete

@Ben_Scallan The problem with you Ben, is that you don’t understand that a Government must lead and not follow. What is good for the country and what is good for a particular sector can be polls apart. Climate change is a real issue but you stick the head in the sand.

@mullallyelaine There was no way they were going to vote against the government. Most of them has been a member of either FF or FG at sometime. Lowry still thinks he is. They are only independent in name so that they can get votes Stupid me fell for that in the last election. Won't happen again

If these 7 independent TD’s had voted against the government yesterday the count would have been 85 - 85 so the deciding vote would have rested with the Ceann Comhairle Verona Murphy, who is also an independent. The Power rested with these so called Independent TD’s they should have represented our voices, but they didn’t!

@Caoimhinn55 Agree 💯. We need a very strong centrist party that delivers for the country. None of the current lot represent me. I suppose the closest are Aontu and independent Ireland

Everyone says: ‘If you’re not Sinn Féin, you must be FF/FG’ — but that’s not how it works. A lot of us aren’t backing any of the Government parties. Not calling for chaos, but there’s a real gap in Irish politics for a proper alternative voice. Anyone else feel that? 🤔

@Niall_Boylan It's a hard one because I feel none of the parties represent me. The closest ones would be either independent Ireland or Aontu as they seem to put the people of the country first. But to tell you the truth I trust none of them.

Also on the show live after 12pm: Sinn Féin have brought forward a motion of no confidence in the FF FG government after the fuel protest fiasco. It’s unlikely to pass in a vote, but if it did and there was a general election, who would you vote for? Sinn Féin, Soc Dems, Labour, or any independents? Is there really an alternative, or are FF and FG the best of a bad bunch, but just in need of new leadership? Comments to WhatsApp 085 100 22 55

This elderly couple stands beside their bright red Corvette in a quiet parking lot—a symbol of a life still lived with a little spark. The gentleman in the plaid shirt gently holds the low passenger door open while his wife slowly bends down, determined to make the descent. He leans in, steady and patient, offering his hand with the kind of tenderness that only decades of shared memories can create. There’s something deeply moving in the way they navigate the moment together—no rush, no frustration—just quiet teamwork shaped by a lifetime of love. It’s a reminder that true romance isn’t found in grand gestures, but in the simple act of showing up for each other every single day. Would you stop to lend a hand, or simply smile and keep walking past? ❤️

@Niall_Boylan Protests use to be organized by unions and people would march under the union banners. Since the unions sold out there is no one to represent workers and all we have are these splinter groups led by the likes of Murphy and Coppinger that no one respects.

Coming up on the show live at 12pm: Why do you think people continue to allow the state to push them to breaking point, with less money in their pockets? We’ve seen increases in property tax for many people, rising health insurance costs, and oil and petrol prices doubling in just one month. Energy prices are predicted to increase due to the cost of oil. Carbon tax is increasing again in May. Broadband costs and other entertainment services are going up. Food prices are rising well above the cost of living increase. Housing and rent are now unaffordable for young people, or for anyone who doesn’t already own a home. Salaries are not increasing anywhere close to these rising costs. Meanwhile, the government is giving away millions to the EU and other countries. But what are people doing about it? Nothing. Why do you think we are just accepting this financial pressure? Have we become soft? The men and women of the past decades would be ashamed of us. Comments to WhatsApp 085 100 22 55

Ozempic looks like a miracle… until it isn’t. Bill Maher asked Jillian Michaels the question a lot of people are quietly wondering: if these weight-loss drugs are so great, why isn’t anyone talking about the downsides? Her answer was direct and data-heavy. About 50% of users feel great at first with no side effects. Then comes the inevitable plateau. Stopping the drug almost always leads to regaining most or all of the weight — often with a brutal rebound effect. She also highlighted more serious risks like stomach paralysis, intestinal blockage, pancreatitis, and kidney issues. Meanwhile, the weight-loss drug industry is growing at a 9% compound annual rate, and many doctors stay quiet because of grant money and industry influence. It’s a raw conversation that cuts through the hype. What do you think — is the Ozempic boom being oversold, or are the benefits worth the risks and lifelong commitment?
