@jakemurphy6 The ball trajectory was very weird if it didn't get touched by the keeper. There's replays floating about but hard to see. I thought it was saved when I watched live but on a very small screen! @Opta need to make the call but feel like it should be S.O.T

Isn’t anyone else absolutely baffled by Bet365/Opta trying to say Salah’s header before Trent scored wasn’t a shot on target?? I’m sure they just make it up as they go along. A replay would be appreciated.

Weird looking back that Euro 96 is one of the epic canonical occasions in England history and it was a losing semi at home. That's how bad England were pre-Southgate, how bad ie the Shearer, Lineker, Ferdinand playing eras were. And now a final is "where did it all go wrong"

From what I've been told we didn't even play that well at 96 but people cherish that tournament

@SeanMcLoughlin @rhysjamesy From the 19th minute after conceding to the 45th minute England played well v Holland. 26 minutes of decent possession and attacking play. Imagine that’s your only good memory of a 7 game tournament in which you actually got to the final. That’s Southgates legacy.

@JournoStephen That's because England is just one of four countries in the UK who all have a rivalry with each other. Scottish fans absolutely do not want England to win the European Championships for example. A national holiday for that would be a day of mourning.

The French would burn Paris to the ground if you if you tried to raise the retirement age by five seconds. The British are opposed to being given a one-off, 24-hour holiday in the middle of summer. Such a weird country.

Other things to note... this ref had previously had a run-in with one of England's main men, the penalty decision wasn't given by him (and arguably wasn't even that bad a decision), and finally... anyone who believes there's a conspiracy to help England surely can't be serious?

Objectively correct take posted before the game but likely would have been deleted if England had been on the receiving end of debatable decisions rather than the perceived beneficiaries
