@AllanLichtman What counts for incumbency? Technically, it is the same administration but with a different leader.

Biden’s withdrawal cost Democrats the Incumbency Key on my 13 Keys to the White House prediction system. But the excitement generated by his endorsement of VP Harris makes it very likely that they retain the Contest Key as she becomes the consensus nominee.

@ProfPCDoherty @gmorg22 How could you forget all of that comedy gold where he's mocking a disabled person and his edgy jokes about veterans being losers and suckers?

@jmechner Loved Prince of Persia as a kid. And my partner is Iranian, so it definitely must have rubbed off on me. 😂

Who remembers this moment in Prince of Persia (1989) where a magic mirror suddenly blocks the hero's path (and what happens afterward)? This moment was actually never planned to be in the game. My original vision was a game with lots of traps, but NO enemies... (1/10)

@nypost I'm not a super big fan of KH, but I think what is quite objectionable about this framing is that it ignores all of her career and accomplishments (and failures), simply focusing on a rather unimportant aspect of her identity.

@ashleyruba_phd This post is full of inspiring yet practical advice for aspiring academics, which in no way makes them feel bad about their relative productivity levels. 😩

@RpsAgainstTrump Reminds me a bit of the farm turkey who has enjoyed a good life, right up to the morning before the family Christmas party. Gotta know when it's time to bow out gracefully, or the voters will do it for you.

BREAKING President Biden vows to stay in race: “I am running. I am the leader of the Democratic Party. No one is pushing me out. I’ve been knocked down before and counted out my whole life. When you get knocked down, you get back up.” Thoughts?

@tsarnick You know that coding in a professional setting is usually done in teams; it's not usually the preserve of a single unsociable individual?

Larry Summers says studying coding is a bad idea and instead young people should learn to work creatively in a group and define purpose, because AI is coming for IQ before it comes for EQ

@jeff_kennett @zalisteggall But they seem to be ditching short-term clean energy targets in place of this very tenuous plan. The proposal would have more credibility if it was framed as the long-term continuation of the current clean energy plan.

@zalisteggall Zali. Quite the opposite. What Dutton is offering is a mix of wind, solar, gas and nuclear to enjoy consistency of energy at the lowest price possible. Wind and solar will not provide sufficent energy for households and business. Nuclear part of the mix and the cleanest energy.

The Coalition’s 4 page blurb isn't an energy policy. There's no details, $$, timelines, process for community consultation nor info on energy output. They'll do anything to sabotage renewables transition & keep coal & gas firing - denying climate change threat & delaying action.

@IonaItalia Ah, I'm not really that familiar with the tango scene, so it may be quite different. I'm very biased here, but you might enjoy zouk which is growing in Sydney. It's quite tango-like in its weight shifts, and it seems to attract a very welcoming community.

@tbednall My main dance is tango, where none of these tips work. I think the etiquette is different for other dances. I still have had lovely dances in Sydney, but it is very hit-and-miss on a night-by-night basis.

@IonaItalia Sydney can also be quite clique-ish. I found it was sometimes easier to befriend people at my dance school and ask them to dance rather than strangers.

@IonaItalia The Sydney dance scene was pretty good when I lived there (at the time, I was doing mostly salsa and bachata), but when there's a gender imbalance, you sometimes have to be a bit proactive about asking people to dance if you are in the minority.

@tbednall I'm actually reluctant to go dancing. If I have a great night and get lots of lovely dances, it cheers me up a lot. But if I have a bad night and no one will dance with me, I feel pretty awful and the effect is reversed.
