We have a neighbor whose daughter is 15 and a big deer, turkey and bear hunter. They hunt in the woods around where we live . 2 years ago she got a tick bite and now has Alpha Gal syndrome. She can not eat any red meat. Fins and fowl ( fish and birds) is all she can eat. This is not a new disease. But it is for life. No cure and you do not outgrow it. In Arkansas.

@susyb29 @OrthoA Tick disease has been on the rise for the past 10 years in people and dogs. You can’t tell me it isn’t some chemically induced rise. I’ve had plenty of ticks on me back 20 or 30 years ago. You hardly ever heard of people getting tick disease

@OrthoA Some people I know have got some better, but most don’t. It’s terrible! However, the dr told my brother if he’s always had tick bites in his 48 years in Arkansas he is probably safer than most. 🤷🏼‍♀️I’m scared of it and don’t understand it at all! Don’t want it!

I'm going to remember this the next time I feel blackpilled. This Memorial Day, a tweet went viral from @SharrellAnne2, who lost her husband, Army Staff Sergeant Alan W. Shaw, in 2007. She asked for someone to take a picture of her husband's grave in Arlington National Cemetery. The flood of responses she got was a much-needed reminder that good still exists in the world. I spoke with Sharrell and couldn't let her leave without asking her to share the best thing about Alan: "Alan was larger than life, and everybody who knew him will remember him forever, not just for his sacrifice, but for who he was as a man, as a soldier, as a leader. He was everything."
