Teacher effectiveness is not greatly improved by curriculum, new programs, or initiatives. But, when teachers are respected, valued, supported, & feel like their talents are utilized, then morale increases, job engagement soars, & students benefit too!

Spend less time trying to be important, and more time making others feel important. Humility is the way.

Yes students need rules, but even more so they need routines, boundaries, high expectations, and responsibilities. The first doesn't require relationships just enforcement, but the rest depend on a strong relationship to be effective.

A strengths-first mindset is going to be so important this year. Let’s focus on what our learners/athletes CAN do before focusing on what they can’t. The reality is that we won’t be able to address any of their weaknesses if we haven’t taken the time to find their strengths. 💪🏻

Engagement doesn’t always = entertainment. Sometimes, it’s simply about personal connections, a driving curiosity, or an opportunity to apply what is being learned. Engagement is a willingness to invest, it’s active and it’s the most essential part of the learning process.

It started as an invitation to write friendship notes to one another and turned into a class initiative to spread kindness to all the members of our classroom community. These are surely forever treasures!

A7 Early in my career I observed a 1st grade teacher respond to a child’s misunderstanding by saying, “(name) you are such a learner! Did everyone see how (name) thought about that?” Then she carried on with a demonstration. I just loved that moment. #G2great
