Met someone recently Father of 2, works in tech sales, wife is a consultant Says “we’re actually going to move to Europe next year” I asked if they have EU passports He says no I asked which of their companies are going to transfer/sponsor them He says they’re not going to tell their employers I asked how long they planned to be in Europe then He said indefinitely… just put the kids in local schools and enjoy their mornings given the time difference.. live a “simpler life” with less stress I then explained.. almost waiting for him to reveal the joke.. that they can’t just “move to Europe” and drop their kids in school and get cheap healthcare. They need to be citizens or have visas… formally update their residency… be legitimately employed locally… not to mention legit docs for things like landlord approvals… the list went on. He wasn’t joking, apparently. This grown adult thought they could just “move to Europe” illegally… and he didn’t even think about the legality of it at all Apparently he’s a “doer” type guy who just makes things happen Good luck to him

There is exactly one hantavirus that transmits between humans. It's been on a cruise ship for three weeks, and the ship is now locked out of port. The MV Hondius boarded passengers in Ushuaia, Argentina. Gateway to Antarctica, southern tip of Patagonia. The Andes virus is endemic here. In late 2018, the Patagonian town of Epuyén, 870 miles from Ushuaia, had an outbreak that killed at least 11 people through person-to-person spread. The only known hantavirus that does this. Every other strain, including the Sin Nombre virus that killed Gene Hackman's wife last year, requires you to inhale aerosolized rodent urine or droppings in an enclosed dry space. Deer mice. Dust. Stale air. No human-to-human transmission. Andes broke that rule. The Hondius left Ushuaia three weeks ago, then visited Antarctica, the Falklands, South Georgia, Tristan da Cunha, St. Helena, and Ascension before anchoring off Cape Verde. Hantavirus incubation runs 1 to 8 weeks. The voyage was exactly that window. Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome kills 38% of symptomatic cases per CDC. Lungs fill with fluid. No cure exists. One UK passenger has lab-confirmed Andes hantavirus and is in ICU in Johannesburg. Five other suspected cases on board. Cape Verde will not let them dock. 149 people remain at anchor, including 17 Americans. The doctor CNN interviewed said his first reaction was that the report had to be a misprint. It would have been, if the ship had departed from anywhere else.

Three people on a cruise ship have passed away from suspected infections of hantavirus, a rare family of viruses carried by rodents.

Her name is Claire Mazumdar. She is 37 years old. Her parents are both computer science professors in the United States. Her brother Eric is a professor at the California Institute of Technology and an AI expert. She holds a degree in Biological Engineering from MIT and both an MBA and a PhD in cancer biology from Stanford. She founded Bicara Therapeutics in 2018. A clinical stage cancer therapy company focused on bi specific antibodies. She led it to a Nasdaq listing in 2024. She also sits on the boards of Relay Therapeutics and Noora Health. She is the niece of Kiran Mazumdar Shaw. The woman who founded Biocon in 1978 in a garage in Bengaluru with Rs 10000 and built it into India’s largest biotechnology company over four decades. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw has no children. Today she named Claire as her successor to lead Biocon into its next phase. Kiran said I am the sole owner of Biocon and I need to make sure that I put it in good hands. I have seen my niece Claire as my successor because I think she has proved to me that she can run a company. Biocon was built by one woman over four decades. It will now be led by another. That’s false. Governor of West Bengal can call incumbent Chief Minister to prove majority on the floor of the Legislative Assembly. If they lose the floor test, they are constitutionally bound to resign. Otherwise, as under Article 164, the Chief Minister holds office “during the pleasure of the Governor.” If the CM has clearly lost the mandate (election results) and refuses to resign, the Governor can withdraw pleasure and dismiss them. Governor, under convention and constitutional practice, is obligated to invite the leader of the party/alliance commanding majority in the newly elected House to form the government. The outgoing CM has no legal standing to block this once the new House is constituted. President’s rule is the last resort.
Gargi Mukherjee@gargiMu48960835

Governor can maximum ask Mamata Banerjee to resign, but the Governor can never force her to do so. If Didi does not resign, the Governor can recommend President's rule. In that case, no political party will be able to remain as the ruler in Bengal. Again we have to face election in that case

Bradley Smart isn't Jewish. His "crime" was to visit Israel. Fellow students at Homerton College, Cambridge initiated a vicious campaign against him, including a chat about killing him. One of them had access to the floor where he lived. You can guess the College's reaction.

Me: "**** Library, how can I help you?" Caller: "Yes, I have some books that are due tomorrow, but I need to keep them longer." Me: "Okay, ma'am. I'll need your name so I can renew the books." Caller: *scandalized* "You need my what?" Me: "Your name, ma'am. So I can call up your account on my computer." Caller: "You have my account?! How did you get that? Do you have my Social Security number?" Me: "No, ma'am. I mean your library account. When you came in to get your library card, you filled out a form with your name, address, phone number, and email, so that we can contact you if you ever have overdue books. We don't have your social security number." Caller: "Well, I'm not giving out my name to a complete stranger over the phone!" Me: "Okay, ma'am. Perhaps you could give me the titles of the books?" Caller: "Why do you need to know what I'm reading?! The books are due tomorrow! Just renew them!" Me: "I'm sorry, ma'am, but there's no way I can look up books by the due date. Without your name or the titles of the books, I can't help you." Caller: "You're trying to steal my identity! I'm calling the cops." Me: *giving up* "You do that, ma'am." *hangs up* Co-worker: "You should have told her we put cameras in the books."

A single bird has just accomplished one of the most extraordinary feats in the animal kingdom — flying nearly one-third of the way around the Earth without stopping to eat, drink, or rest. The record-breaker is a five-month-old Bar-tailed Godwit that flew nonstop from Alaska to Tasmania, Australia. Covering 8,425 miles in just over 11 days, it set a new record for the longest nonstop flight ever documented in any bird. What makes this journey even more astonishing is that it was the young godwit’s very first migration. The entire route took place over the open Pacific Ocean, with no chance to land. Despite that, the bird navigated thousands of miles of featureless water with pinpoint accuracy. This incredible endurance is made possible by remarkable physiological adaptations. Before takeoff, the godwit packs on enormous fat reserves — nearly half its body weight — to fuel the flight. At the same time, many of its internal organs, including parts of the digestive system, temporarily shrink to lighten the load and maximize energy efficiency. Unlike many seabirds that depend heavily on gliding, this godwit flapped continuously for the entire journey, battling shifting winds and weather systems the whole way. Researchers at the Pūkōroro Auckland Shorebird Centre say discoveries like this are transforming our understanding of migratory birds. Their astonishing endurance, navigation skills, and energy management demonstrate biological capabilities that can match — and in some ways surpass — even the most advanced human engineering.

For all those eagerly waiting for an update on Apapang, the tiny Amur falcon, let me tell you, he has superbly executed a nonstop transcontinental flight of 4,750 km over 95 hours from the Somalian landscape to arrive in India. Look at the red line with a red dot on the Map. This truly makes Amurs among the most elite long-distance travellers on the planet. He made the first landing near Sone River, close to Varanasi and within an hour of rest, Apapang flew another 200 kms to reach a hill forest landscape near Gaya District to stop for the night. As shared by @sureshwii #Amurfalcons

Mark it ! Apapang has now begun his return flight from Somalia. Based on the established flight patterns, this incredible tiny power house of a bird is expected to undertake a near-continuous 6000 km journey towards the forests along the India Myanmar border, reaffirming the precision, endurance and ecological significance of one of the most extraordinary migratory routes documented in the natural world. As told to @supriyasahuias by Dr @sureshwii #Amurfalcons #epicjourney

Final thought after long counting day : From 2 MPs and zero states in 1984, BJP has now won 3 consecutive LS elections and is in power or alliance in 21 states. From zero seats in 2011 to 206 in 2026 in West Bengal .. From 3 seats in 2011 to 101 in Assam in 2026.. From one seat in the long history of Keralam politics to now 3 in 2026, From being irrelevant in Puducherry to now being in ruling alliance.. As the BJP’s relentless election machine rolls on, are we heading for an ‘opposition mukt Bharat’ in the age of Moditva or will there be a pushback? And who will drive it when there is no level playing field? Unless you are a Vijay in TN!! Good night, shubhratri!🙏
