@hxrts Re: 1 - I feel this is more true of centralized databases. Chinese gov doesn’t really need crypto - they have a much richer view of individuals via a few centralized dbs. Crypto privacy solutions actually have a potential to solve this.

My personal criticisms of crypto: - record of individual behavior permits authoritarian surveillance apparatus - rich get richer via info/access asymmetry & immutable generational wealth - everything becomes a money game rather than enriching public life

@simondlr Or perhaps it’s also a misdirected frustration w art market onto NFTs that has been bottled up because you can’t critique the art market as easily because of art’s ideological stature.

@simondlr The funny thing is that if the critique was directed towards the art market it would actually make more sense. I do think a lot of hate may stem from the fact that NFTs threaten the concept of art as defined by the art market and it’s related ideological mechanisms.

@EdgarArout I was getting this a lot and had to tweak my bor node to remove the random tx broadcast logic and enforce the tx order, but other reg nodes will obv still contribute some randomness. Shorter block times -> more random.

@EdgarArout You want chain-governance stuff happening at the chain level and arbitrary code execution / dapps on smart contract level.

@EdgarArout They are just different use-cases and WASM stuff is a much newer feature. Works just like any other smart contract, hold their own state etc so not app-chain specific.

So cosmos: updating state is really just evaling a sequence of protobuf msgs, but then this means that any app level logic (governance) is intimately tied with the upstream blockchain devs actually doing updates right , so any app update is by definition a hard fork ?

@EdgarArout You can allow users to deploy arbitrary WASM smart contracts on your Cosmos chain. So it’s a developer choice - you can make a low-level specialized app-chain or smart contract chain.

This seems kinda constricting ? Like it’s a great feature that dapps can update them own biz logic without waiting for eth devs to release a new update/hardfork .

@0xtuba Uni V3 positions have the same payoff as short puts. You can borrow a LP position for a fee and return it later. That's the same as purchasing a long put.
