@MrsBokko @SurreyStormNPL Not sure how my weeks will work without a billion phone calls and messages to you!? Certainly can’t comprehend being on the opposite team, and remain in awe of your coaching, leadership and composure. Sure it will be a relief not to have me twittering in your ear tho!!! 🥇

Utterly devastated is an understatement, with huge concerns about the future of talent in the South. How can young players be expected to travel 3-4 hours to access a Pathway?

TW: Suicide “So it was years ago, my daughter was in primary school, and I wanted her to play netball at primary school, and they only had football. I played some netball, so I said I would coach the school team. And, I thought, to coach I'd probably better start playing again and someone had told me about the Friday morning at the Magnets. So I started playing to help with my coaching, but I immediately realised I really enjoyed it. They were a great bunch of women. I'm a nurse, so I could always manage my shift patterns to keep going and I hate it when you miss it. And, yeah, it’s been a real regular. My daughter carried on playing netball in secondary school. She played for Magnets then. She didn't really like the team of her own age. Seven girls in a team, it can be a difficult dynamic. So she got in with ladies netball and was in Annette’s team for a while before she went off to sixth form. And then just recently, my world fell apart a bit. I lost my daughter last year to suicide. And they've just been such a great bunch. And they honour Issy every day. Every Friday I come, they always ask. And it's given me something to look forward to. So, yeah, a very special bunch of women. And, um, it's nice. A lot of them knew Issy so it's somewhere I feel comfortable and I can be myself. I decided very early that I wasn't going to hide the suicide bit of it and be open because I just think it's got to help being open; that it's out there. Young people are killing themselves, and yeah, it's been really hard.” 𝐴𝑠 𝑤𝑒𝑙𝑙 𝑎𝑠 𝑎 𝑛𝑒𝑡𝑏𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑒𝑟, 𝐼𝑠𝑠𝑦 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑎𝑙𝑠𝑜 𝑎 𝑘𝑒𝑒𝑛 𝑅𝑢𝑔𝑏𝑦 𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑦𝑒𝑟. @BraveMind14 𝑖𝑠 𝑎 𝑟𝑒𝑔𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑑 𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑟𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑤ℎ𝑜 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑝𝑎𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑖𝑚𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑙 ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑡ℎ 𝑜𝑓 𝑝𝑒𝑜𝑝𝑙𝑒 𝑖𝑛 & 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑛𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑟𝑢𝑔𝑏𝑦 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑦, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑖𝑠 𝑎 𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑟𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑐𝑙𝑜𝑠𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝐼𝑠𝑠𝑦'𝑠 𝑚𝑢𝑚'𝑠 ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑡. “I used to run the Ealing League, and we moved out to Maidenhead, and I had my first daughter in 1970. And, because in those days everything was played in youth centres we used to go around the different youth centres in the Royal Borough of Ealing. And when I came here, there wasn't anything set up. And I lived on a brand new estate there were about 250 houses on there, and I thought to myself, I'll go to the youth centre. So I said to them, ‘You got any courts here?’ Well, they had this court, it was funny, it was a court at the back of the youth centre, with trees all around, but with bumps coming out of the ground. They said to me, ‘Yeah, you can do that’. So I'm thinking perhaps I can get some netball. So I put a note round my estate, saying, come to my house for coffee. Now, it was a Friday night because Mack used to go and have a drink on a Friday night, so it was a Friday night. So I said, come round my house for a coffee if you're interested in netball, and 32 people turned up. And every time somebody came, we all got the giggles. Especially one, Bobby. Every time, she had the real giggles. And every time anybody knocked on the door, we giggled and giggled. And I went, ‘Oh, I was only looking for a team’. So that's how I got going again because I really wanted a team. And I know why. Because we only had one car. I didn't have a lot of money. I had a young baby, and I thought if we shared cars, it wouldn't cost me so much to put them in, and it all got started. I had a letter come through, saying that I'd been nominated for an MBE and that I would have to look on the 19th as it would be out on the 19th of June. Now, it was so coincidental - no, the 11th of June. It would have been my husband's birthday. He had already died and I thought, well, that's a good omen. And I can remember getting up at six in the morning, walking the dog around the field and I went and got a paper. So I'm looking through this paper and I couldn't find Gina McGregor. But they hadn't put it in any order; it just ran on like that. And all of a sudden I saw Gina McGregor. Oh my god, oh my god, is that me? Yeah, that's me! Right. So, I then walked the dog and I was walking around this field and this chap came along that I knew, his wife played netball and I said to him, ‘I’ve got to tell somebody’. I said, ‘I’ve got an MBE’. So that was really, that was really nice, really nice to be a nominee. I mean, I've always been a volunteer. I didn't get paid for all the work I did. And, you know, to be recognised for the work that you do. Somebody evidently looks at you and says, ‘Oh, you know, you're doing a lot’. You do it… Well, I do it because I love it. You wouldn't do it otherwise, would you? I'm still working because I love it. I'm really proud. Yeah, I'm really proud that, you know, it all got going. You know, you just, wherever you go, you see people who you know. Today there was a chap who came up there. He used to do karate and things or whatever. And he went, ‘Oh my god Gina, I haven't seen you in years!’ He's set up his own one now. And I said, ‘Good for you’, you know? He's set something up himself. He's gone out and done something. I mean, that's what you need to do, you need to keep going.” #OurStories #NetballStories #HumansOfNetball

A confident win this weekend for our #u17 squad against @PulsePathway & a great start to the season. Some fab play by our U19 & U21 teams, but the wins were out of reach this week. Big shout out to these Stormies who smashed their games ... #proudcoach #aStormisComing #GameDay
