We've had no 5h limit in Codex plus and pro for a few days. Do you think it is better or are you finding it difficult to manage the usage included in the weekly limit effectively? If we were to make this different, what should it look like in an ideal world?

@Conor_D_Dart I wouldn't be surprised if that was the plan. Keen users burst their limit early. Then extend it so those who havn't had a chance to play yet do, and get hooked also.

I think this is BS. Anthropic officially announced that Fable was being taken away, so naturally people used as much of their remaining Fable access as they could. Now many of those same users have hit their usage limits and can't use Fable anymore. If you're going to make an announcement like that, you should communicate more clearly and reset everyone's Fable usage limits. It feels unfair to penalize users for responding exactly as you'd expect. 👎

@vishwastweet @AnthropicAI I think that with the catching up part, blocking is moot point if the open weight models can find the same vulnerability (which Anthropic demonstrated in their postmortem). Secondly, they don't want a different country owning the LLM market when everyone switches over 😅

@vishwastweet @AnthropicAI I wonder if it's because the open weight models are catching up and gaining huge market share during the whole fiasco

We’ve received notice that the Department of Commerce has lifted export controls on Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5. We'll begin restoring access tomorrow, and will share an update soon. We’re grateful to our users for their patience, and to everyone who worked with us on redeploying the models.

This is a new paradigm for interacting with Claude that is significantly more "inline" with all the other human activity org-wide. Once you do all of the under the hood engineering work to make this "just work" (e.g. across tools, integrations, compute environments, memory, security, etc.), Claude basically joins the team in a seamless way - you can talk to it as you would talk to a person and it can help with a very large variety of workloads. Imo this is the 3rd major redesign of LLM UIUX. The first paradigm was that the LLM is a website you go to, the second was that it is an app you download to your computer. This third one is that it is a self-contained, persistent, asynchronous entity with org-wide tools and context, working alongside teams of humans. It really takes a while to wrap your head around it, but it works and it is awesome.

Introducing Claude Tag, a new way for teams to work with Claude. In Slack, Claude joins as a team member with access to the channels and tools you choose. Tag Claude in and delegate tasks to it while you focus on other work.

When Claude is working in a channel with four people, whose credentials does it use? The answer: its own. When tagging Claude, Claude gets provisioned like any other teammate, with its own credentials. We call this access model "agent identity". Here's how it works: 🧵

@ashwingop It is totally lock in. But if it continues to solve problems and deliver real value, is it not worth the tradeoff?

Claude Tag is a Trojan horse.  Not because Anthropic is doing anything evil. Because the incentives are obvious. Day one, this looks like a great feature: tag Claude in Slack, let it follow the thread, remember context, connect to tools, break down tasks, chase work, and act like a teammate. But that is exactly the problem. The moment your AI vendor becomes a shared coworker, it stops being just a model provider. It starts becoming the place where work is interpreted, remembered, routed, and eventually executed. That is not model lock-in. That is context lock-in. You are now renting your company back from them. Models can be swapped. Agents can be copied. But the memory of how your company actually works is much harder, maybe impossible, to move: the Slack scar tissue, the exception paths, the customer promises, the unfinished threads, the weird workflows, the implicit owners, the “we tried that in Q2 and it failed” knowledge. Once that lives inside one vendor’s agent layer, you are not renting intelligence anymore. You are renting your company’s operating memory. And the pricing model makes it even more dangerous. A human coworker has a salary. Claude has unbounded tokenized activity. The more work moves through it, the more the vendor captures not just IT spend, but labor spend. This is the enterprise bargain people will regret: Convenience now, and rapid decent into dependency. The right architecture is simple: rent the best intelligence from whoever is best this month. OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, open source, whatever. But own the context layer. Your company memory should be inspectable, permissioned, portable, and model-neutral. It should not be buried inside the same vendor that sells you the intelligence and the workflow surface. Claude Tag is useful. That is why it is dangerous. Rent the intelligence, but own the context. Or, regret later.

@karpathy What's the solution for MCP access? Most solutions require you to OAuth your account. I have to be missing something obvious otherwise this seems like a weak spot.

@sama ❗ trade offer❗ you: open-source GPT-6 (full model, next month) me: never post about Anthropic again (promise) plus: OpenAI will be RICHER by doing that (promise) plus: you'll enter the history book as THE man who led humanity to its last scientific revolution (promise) plus: Musk will finally stop annoying you! sounds like a hell of a deal, doesn't it? reply: yes and humanity steps forward and cancer is cured sooner and history is made right here right now I know you reading this this is your moment history books, or nah?

Futile appeal: Mythos should not be re-launched. It should be open sourced. If it was, that would mark the beginning of an era of unfathomable progress and prosperity to humanity that would make EVERYONE richer, including those at big labs, and the US. I spent the last hour writing a 10 paragraph long text explaining why that's the case and addressing every single point and counter-argument to it, like security, business, economical impact, China - in ways I know to be true, even though hard to see - but I deleted because it became massive and obviously the people that matter would never read it, let alone have a slim chance of being convinced, given that's the extreme opposite of everything they believe. But that is a shame, because it is impossible to overstate how much our species would benefit, if that was true. Things would change in ways that seemingly nobody alive understands, particularly these who should. I suppose our monkey brains are just not smart enough to play the right cards here, and, as a civilization, we all lose. Imagine if an alien species found an infinitely deep oil pit, and used it ALL as a hair moisturizer. We'd laugh at them, wouldn't we? Well, that's us with LLMs, right now. tl;dr way too many people alive today trading a ticket to Mars for a shiny green umber in their phones, and they don't even know that :(
