The Tectonic DML500 met the challenge for the #garedestrasbourg so well that they decided to do another installation. Check out this beautiful DML500 #liveinstall by our partners at TSC. It features a custom sandstone powder-coat to blend in.

The Gare de Strasbourg, one of the busiest railways in France, prioritizes the intelligibility of public announcements for the 20 million people it serves a year. However, architectural boundaries made of glass, stone, and concrete pose a huge obstacle. (cont) #proav #proaudio

The diffuse radiation of the Tectonic DML500 interacts so benignly with reflective surfaces (like walls, floors, and ceilings) that reflections do not disturb the perceived sound, guaranteeing a more consistent temporal and timbral accuracy. Learn more: tectonicproaudio.com/about-the-tech…

The Tectonic DML500 uses deliberate anisotropy in its vibrating panel to achieve wide, even dispersion and a smooth response. The uni-directional carbon fibers in the panel skins allow the bending waves to travel at different speeds in different directions.

‣ Foam damping around the edge of the panel helps tune and dampen the energy. ‣ The mounting points securing the panel to the chassis are best placed in nodal clusters where they have the least interference (as seen in the graphic on the first tweet).

Boundaries (2 of 2 on panel design) Boundary conditions can have a strong influence on modal distribution, because they delimit the modal radiation of the panel. A couple things help optimize the panel response... (cont) #audioengineer #proav

Exciter Placement (1 of 2 on panel design) It's tough to get an even frequency response from a flat panel loudspeaker if modes aren't evenly distributed across the panel. The DML500 panel's central area (shown in graphic) is the best placement for the four exciters... (cont)

The output from the near-field disturbance is highly correlated and provides the critical timing information (phase) needed to localize the source and create a precise stereo image. The diffuse output that immediately follows contains most of the radiated energy. (cont) #avtweeps

DML technology has wide dispersion and is predominantly diffuse, which may make you wonder how stereo imaging is preserved. It's all due to the precedence effect. (cont) #audioengineer #audioengineering
