I have just printed out hundreds of pages - the first draft of The Complete Guide to Smallholding. The editing and improving, diagrams and pics will take many weeks, but I have the heart of it in my hand. I feel a little lightheaded.

Swine Vesicular Disease ruled out. The last 48 hours have been harrowing for pig keepers waiting for the results. A reminder of what we have to lose. Don't be the one who puts our breeds and the livelihoods of British pig farmers at risk by feeding kitchen waste to your pigs.

Following reports of possible #FootandMouth or #SwineVesicularDisease on a farm in Norfolk we put in place restrictions & tested samples. Testing has allowed us to rule out these diseases & the 10km TCZs have been revoked. Investigations continue. More at: gov.uk/guidance/swine…

For all us farmers and smallholders who use Sudocrem for our pigs, cattle, sheep and poultry, take care an irritated beastie doesn't report you for misuse 😉 (don't want a nasty impaling outcome).

We are currently investigating a suspected case of #FootandMouth disease in Norfolk. Movement restrictions and a 10km temporary control zone are in place on the farm. Preliminary testing does not indicate the presence of disease and further work is underway to fully rule it out.
