It has now been one month since Lucy's collar slipped over her head. One month since she was loose in my yard for a few seconds. One month since nobody got hurt. One month since nothing happened. It has also been one month since the police were called. One month since animal control issued me a court summons. One month since they took my dog, the dog I bonded with in war ten years ago. One month since my world turned into a living hell. It has been one month since nothing happened. And it has been one month since everything happened, in response to nothing. She has spent one month in jail. Over nothing. Away from everything. One month away from her fields. Away from Lex. Away from the kids. Away from @Herb_Minstrel and me. Let her come home. It's been long enough. It's time. It's damn time. #SaveLucy I have nothing more to say. @LoneStarChica @catturd2

To all the moms raising boys to be men: this backyard treasure hunt birthday party is pure gold. Picture this: A crew of 8-12 year olds, maps in hand, no hovering parents. They navigate 12 rugged clues through the woods behind your house—scrambling over logs, fording a muddy creek, spotting trail markers, and yes, swinging a supervised axe to chop through a small marked “barrier” log blocking the path. Each stop demands teamwork: solve a riddle, measure a distance with string, identify animal tracks, or build a quick stick bridge. The final clue leads to a buried chest (real metal ammo can or wooden box). They dig it up with shovels, crack the combo lock using math from an earlier clue, and unleash the loot: pocket knives, beef jerky, flashlights, paracord, and candy. Zero screens. Real dirt, real decisions, real consequences if they get lost for five minutes. They’ll argue, laugh, fail, adapt, and high-five like warriors when they win. Confidence, resilience, and brotherhood in one epic afternoon. Moms who let boys be boys know: scraped knees today build calloused hands tomorrow. (Setup takes 2-3 hours. Age 8+. Safety briefing mandatory but then hands off.) Who’s doing this for their son’s next birthday? Drop a 🔥 if you’re in.

I’m feeling this feeling right now from God, that I need to adopt one of the test lab beagles. I’m not kidding. There’s no way they would be happier in life than living right here at the Catturd ranch. They would be loved beyond belief,

Transmission went out in the van, and I have 11 dogs scheduled to rescue this week. Not sure how I’ll pull this one off.

I drove 500 miles to Los Angeles to rescue a German Shepherd who was red listed for euthanasia. The shelter told me he was adoptable. They approved it. They walked the dog out to me. I was filming. We were about to load him into the van. Then I was stopped. They pulled me aside and said “there was a mistake.” A clerical error. Someone entered his behavioral score wrong in the system, which is why he was ever listed as adoptable in the first place. Once they realized their mistake, they reversed the adoption. And now, because they corrected their paperwork, they’re going to kill him anyway. I work with difficult dogs all the time. This dog is not aggressive. He’s terrified, stressed, and stuck in a concrete nightmare. Call Sergeant Vega at 562-658-2085 and ask why dog A5745484 is being euthanized because of a data entry error. This is what “process over life” looks like. This is what bureaucracy does when no one pushes back.

So I just tried to book at @motel6 for the first time since that whole incident where they insisted Oliver stay in a kennel the entire time we were in the room… at a pet friendly motel, no less. Turns out I’m now on the Motel 6 Do Not Rent list. Nationwide. 😂 And honestly, I couldn’t care less. I actually find it funny as hell, considering I’m probably the only person in human history who has ever publicly praised Motel 6. It was a beautiful, short lived alliance. 😭

I really do try to be a good person. But this morning, I lost my temper. Me and Oliver were just trying to relax at the finest establishment known to man…Motel 6. I went to check back in, and the guy behind the counter told me Oliver had to be kenneled the entire time. That’s when I lost it. Me and Oliver spend our days getting dogs out of kennels. I’ll be damned if I’m going to lock him in one while we’re just trying to rest, well, as much as you can at your crappy motel.

It’s the end of year and I’m back on the Caprock. After thousands of miles, it still feels like coming home. Up here, the air changes. The history hits different. This is where the first cattle drives crossed — and where the next ones will begin. Because 40% of the beef in this country still comes from folks like us. Mothers, sons, old-timers still running fence in the wind. We’re not confused. And we’re not alone. Let’s ride into 2026 with purpose and integrity. Happy New Year from Canyon, Texas. WE are Texas Slim. @beefinitiative

At this time exactly 5 years ago I was taken to ICU after I nearly drank myself to death. I was there for 3 days. I was utterly broken after 25 years of addiction, depression and anxiety. Today I help street dogs and have been sober since. My message to you today is that there is always hope. There is always a second chance. You can do this. ❤️

Old Boots O’Neil sits there talking like he’s reading out loud from a country most folks don’t even believe existed. Ninety-three, still horseback on the Four Sixes , and every story is a reminder of what we traded away — horses for side-by-sides, cow camps for HR departments, apprenticeship for YouTube. Boots talks screw worms, four-year-old broncs, seven-day weeks, wagons that never shut down. That’s not nostalgia. That’s a record of what an honest life used to cost. What I hear in his voice is simple: If you don’t know where you came from, you won’t survive where you’re going. Boots is the last bridge to a world where “cowboy” wasn’t a brand, it was a responsibility — to the land, the cattle, and the outfit that paid you. When he warns about screw worms coming back, or cattle suffering when nobody’s paying attention, that’s not a story. That’s a forecast. So here’s my takeaway: Learn from men like Boots while they’re still here, build something your grandkids will recognize, and don’t let the world forget what real work and real beef look like.
