this idea that "we should just let black women do what they want with their hair" is so pervasively stupid. identity politics is frying brains 🫵🏾

4) if you feel negatively about your own black hair, it WILL ALWAYS impact how you interact with your black friends & co-workers (“braids aren’t wedding / birthday hair”) etc. worse yet, your beauty practices impact black children. the school girls are wearing bussdowns.

@teefortilly And she thought the samething would happen to Quad after Napa. Thats why she stays mad with Quad! She couldn't get rid of her

Tbh I don’t think Simone is one to talk about loyalty in friendships. When all the ladies voted Mariah out she was the only one who was still somewhat cool with Mariah but led the charge on the vote AND delivered the news. She doesn’t know what loyalty means at all #Married2Med

There are so many other facets of life that we go against what society says is acceptable as black people so why is hair the one we must sit down and roll over on 😭

You have people doing campaigns for natural hair care products in a wig and you don’t think we should just unpack that small?

@ruviexo This is also a big thing for me because we don’t just impact our individual selves when we say these things. It’s a very multifaceted convo defo but it requires a lot of internal reflection that I don’t think some people are ready for unfortunately
tilly@teefortilly

“It’s just my preference” but do you think you exist in a silo ?😭 the way you describe your hair when so many other girls also have hair like you and your children might too. Like you really need to unpack

@ruviexo Like the effort people claim it takes to navigate hair is only going to be avoided unless you’re literally bald 😭(that’s the true wake up and go hairstyle). Wigs take a different type of effort that I wouldn’t even say is any less time consuming than styling natural hair

For me, the discourse on natural hair never really hits. Esp when I think about the reason why I tend to wear wigs more. It’s not cause I don’t think I’d look good in my natural hair but it’s the time / effort that it takes to make my natural hair fit into societal standards

I do think to get comfortable with your hair you absolutely need to have an extended period of time where you just have your hair out. You will learn how to care for it, what works and what doesn’t, what are your go to quick styles etc.

@PreciousGNSD This is it. I do hear the societal pressure but that cannot be the excuse every single time the conversation comes up.

At which point do we want to start unlearning because that’s what the conversation was about no? And instead of saying “you know what fairs I hear it. I don’t care, but I hear it” some of you are crying about delivery and hair history. Sorry, aired 😭
Rosa, parked em.@currygoatroti

Like let’s be serious, after damn near 500 years of a group of ppl being conditioned to think the way their hair grows out of their head is improper, it’s not that hard to understand why some black women don’t feel super confident in their hair.

@ruviexo Like i don’t think it’s a matter of either/or out of the questions you presented. Both are important. Yes let’s address the wider policing of black hair which I would say has been a long ongoing discussion tbvf! But let’s also do some internal reflection as well

@ruviexo Both conversations are important but I do think honestly a lot of women do hide behind conforming as a way to not interrogate why they don’t feel comfortable with their hair.

Idk why the ladies are cackling at Heavenly’s possible departure frm the show. Need I remind them the 2 months they filmed without her got scrapped this szn? That’s why this szn felt rushed and disjointed. It’s not looking too well without her. #Married2Med #Married2Medicine
