The Israelis were taken into custody solely because of their nationality. They ultimately chose to return to Thailand, where they had come from. In another case, two Israeli men were detained in Malaysia while traveling from Cambodia to the Philippines. They were held for two days and eventually deported back to Cambodia. Malaysia is the same country that banned Israeli athletes from a Paralympic competition because of their identity, and the one that has repeatedly supported Hamas.
