This is a work in progress, but sharing it early as some areas in Hyderabad are already experiencing temperatures as high as 44°C this season. We hope this can help support public awareness and contribute toward identifying high risk areas for heat stress. 3/n

Explore declassified satellite imagery of the Hyderabad region from 1967, 1974, and 1979 - felt.com/map/Map-Archiv… These high resolution images provide an incredibly detailed snapshot of what Hyderabad looked like in the late 1960s and 1970s. #Hyderabad

@RamSeraph Hi. These are from the USGS EE under declassified imagery. only some of these are scanned and released. For the rest of those, they charge $30 per scene. I have just added what is available for now.

@tejamalladi Can I know the source for the older satellite images? I can guess where the rest of the data can be found at. This one was a surprise.

❌ Splitting Hyderabad into three municipal corporations draws massive flak Once projected as India’s fastest-growing metropolitan hub, Hyderabad now stands divided into three municipal corporations -Hyderabad, Malkajgiri, and Cyberabad - a move widely criticised as politically motivated rather than administratively necessary. Critics argue that this division has diluted the city’s global brand and weakened its unified development vision. Revanth Reddy, who had earlier promised to strengthen Hyderabad by expanding and integrating suburban municipalities into a single, powerful metropolitan body, is now accused of doing the opposite. The claim that the split was for administrative convenience has found little acceptance among urban planners and industry observers. During its ten-year rule, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government focused on building Hyderabad as a world-class city through massive investments in infrastructure, IT corridors, pharma clusters, flyovers, underpasses, drainage systems, and unified urban governance. This period saw Hyderabad emerge as a leading IT exporter, a major startup destination, and the nucleus of Genome Valley, attracting investments worth thousands of crores and generating lakhs of jobs. The formation of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in 2007 had expanded the city into a 650 sq km unified metropolis. Post-2014, under the leadership of KCR, suburban areas were systematically developed and integrated with long-term planning. Observers say the current reversal threatens that momentum. Analysts now warn that splitting the city will fragment governance, create multiple regulatory systems, and complicate investment decisions. With different policies and approvals across three corporations, investors may face uncertainty and delays. Many fear that short-term political calculations by the Congress government could cause long-term damage to Hyderabad’s growth trajectory and its aspiration to remain a truly cosmopolitan, global city.

@VijayMallangi Hello @VijayMallangi I have only seen the gazette notification on the GHMC site regarding this, & it is still text-based information. The maps still show 150 wards. Currently adding info about zones & circles from publicly available maps and images, & will update this soon.
