TELECOM NAMIBIA IS COMMITTED TO COOPERATING WITH CRAN ON NETWORK SERVICES DISRUPTIONS
Telecom Namibia acknowledges the recent media statement issued by the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) regarding recurring broadband service disruptions affecting parts of the country.
The company notes CRAN’s concerns regarding the impact of these disruptions on consumers, businesses, and institutions, as well as the importance of maintaining quality of service standards and transparent communication.
Telecom Namibia confirms that it is fully cooperating with CRAN and will provide a comprehensive briefing outlining the root causes of the network disruptions, the interventions currently underway, and the measures being implemented to stabilise services and prevent recurrence.
The disruptions are linked to a combination of network infrastructure challenges and system-related issues within the fixed broadband and mobile environment. Our technical teams remain fully mobilised and are working around the clock to restore affected services and strengthen overall network resilience.
Telecom Namibia recognises the critical role reliable connectivity plays in Namibia’s socio-economic development and digital transformation. The company, therefore takes the current service challenges seriously and is accelerating a series of targeted interventions, including:
• Network stabilisation and optimisation initiatives
• Ongoing infrastructure upgrades and modernisation programmes
• Improved monitoring and rapid response capabilities
• Enhanced communication to customers and stakeholders
Telecom Namibia further acknowledges that service performance has not consistently met expected standards. The organisation is committed to restoring service reliability and rebuilding customer confidence through measurable improvements and greater transparency.
The company will continue to engage proactively with the shareholder, CRAN, customers, and the public, ensuring regular updates on progress and timelines as restoration efforts advance.

Telecom Namibia acknowledges the network challenges recently experienced in parts of the country, the impact these issues have on customers and businesses, and is actively addressing customer concerns.

OHANGWENA GOVERNOR ENGAGES TELECOM NAMIBIA AND POWERCOM ON STRENGTHENING REGIONAL CONNECTIVITY
The Governor of the Ohangwena Region, Hon. Kadiva Diana Hamutumwa, paid a courtesy visit on 15 May 2026 to the leadership of PowerCom and Telecom Namibia, where she met with Dr. Stanley Shanapinda, Telecom Namibia Chief Executive Officer, Mr Set-son Shifidi, PowerCom Vice Chairperson and Mr. Beatus Amadhila, PowerCom Chief Executive Officer, as well as members of management and the executive teams.
The visit provided an important platform to discuss the connectivity challenges facing the Ohangwena Region, with the Governor emphasising the critical role that reliable telecommunications infrastructure plays in driving social and economic development. She highlighted the importance of improved connectivity in unlocking opportunities across key sectors, including education, business, and public services.
During the engagement, both PowerCom and Telecom Namibia shared insights into ongoing and planned capital infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing network coverage and service delivery in the region. PowerCom outlined its efforts to expand network reach through the deployment of additional telecommunications towers, while Telecom Namibia highlighted its role in delivering services and improving access to connectivity.
Telecom Namibia CEO, Dr. Stanley Shanapinda, also highlighted initiatives focused on connecting schools within the region, underscoring the organisation’s commitment to supporting digital inclusion and enabling access to learning opportunities through technology.
The discussion further explored opportunities for collaboration and partnership, with all parties reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening connectivity and ensuring that communities in the Ohangwena Region are well-positioned to benefit from Namibia’s growing digital economy.
