The lack of urgency about the shuttered govt is something to behold. Everyone has left DC: the House, the Senate and POTUS is leaving again. What a complete and utter failure of leadership.

If Republicans were smart and took the nuclear option, they should pass legislation restricting these shutdowns by abolishing CRs, requiring a balanced budget focused on reducing debt by 10% per year, and ensuring no member of Congress gets paid until the budget is passed and that essential services are funded during a government shutdown.
