This always felt like Forde’s final season in Cairns - that he would pursue new opportunities once his contract came to an end - and there was buzz to that effect as early as the Blitz. Someone expected to be under strong consideration to take over as head coach: Kerry Williams.

Adam Forde won’t be returning as head coach of the Cairns Taipans, the team says. Forde has an overseas opportunity; he will continue with the Taipans in a remote role, and be part of the team’s search for a new head coach.
