Thanks to my wandering 18 month old, I picked up a copy of The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel. Right away it put me at ease by revealing how new this whole field of modern personal finance is. In the light of history, it’s about as old as my 18 month old. #PersonalFinance

Just changed the categorization suggestions layout for @tendcash to be a two-column. The right column also sticks to the top so the buttons are always within reach even when the list of transactions is long. Kamal is deploying now...

A single, hard limit will always be more effective than 20-40 categories each with a soft limit. All your active, discretionary purchases (not scheduled) are pulled from your discretionary fund. The classic thermometer works great here :)

I love these little "cents" in the small font.

Here's a video of how quickly you can categorize transactions in @tendcash. Batches grouped by merchant and account. Soon it will guess the categories based on your "Plan" and previous categorizations. Then you'll just approve it.

There are only a few "sure-fire" categories for transactions that take money out of an checking account.... 1. a fixed expense 2. a discretionary expense 3. a "saved for" expense 4. a transfer to a credit card 5. a transfer to a savings account That's it.
