@hissgoescobra @Indian_Bronson Why don’t they at least build semi-hardened hangars, something that would provide protection from all but direct hits? Leaving all the aircraft out in the open seems to be asking for it.

Holy shit. They got an AWACS. Even if it’s just damaged, that is a fucking crown jewel asset. After the earlier attack that hit the KC-135s, this is inexcusable. Concerned for our troops. Something seems way off here.
Chris Gordon@ByChrisGordon

Multiple refueling planes and an E-3 Sentry AWACS command and control aircraft are among the aircraft damaged in the Iranian attack at Prince Sultan Air Base, according to preliminary information. airandspaceforces.com/us-forces-saud…

Looking back over the years and thinking about the old TVG days, those late night (on the East coast) Hollywood park broadcasts might be the best times ive ever had watching that channel. That was quite the crew.

@bigth23 @Dan_Hoard WTF? Huggs was the biggest winner since Ed Jucker. Of course, he had to go, but they didn’t have to do it in a way that torched the program. I’m sure Calhoun wanted him there.

@Dan_Hoard I think it’s pretty sad parading Huggins around UC. Unfair to a new coach especially since half of us can’t stand Bob and hate what he did to the Program

The biggest thing that stood out to me at Jerrod Calhoun’s introductory news conference is how united everybody is behind this hire. Former players from all eras…Huggs’ guys…Mick’s guys…Bearcat fans…college basketball experts — everyone seems to agree that Cincinnati landed the right coach. Next season can’t get here fast enough!

@KIRSoccer @SenTuberville It used to be self-regulating until the courts got involved. Since that happened, Congress now needs to get involved to correct the ridiculous interpretations of laws that the courts have foisted upon colleges.

It’s absolutely ridiculous that we have 25-year-old “students” who graduated 3 years ago still playing college football. My bill is simple: you get 5 consecutive years to play 5 seasons. After that, you’re done. No more of this “COVID free year of eligibility” crap.
OutKick@Outkick

Exclusive: @CoachForGov introduces ‘Student Athlete Act Of 2026’ aimed at curtailing transfer portal chaos. It give athletes five years to play five seasons, while also penalizing a player 1 year for transferring a second time, he tells @OutKickHotMic outkick.com/sports/tommy-t…

I’m told that Calhoun did not address the team this morning in San Diego but that everyone found out as the plane touched down in Ogden and phones got turned back on. I’m also told that a team meeting has been called when the team gets back to Logan.

@Pac12Central That’s what Cincinnati was thinking when it locked down Wes Miller with a jumbo buyout. Instead, they were forced to stick with him two years too long.

Utah State is a perfect example of why your Head Coach buyouts should be HIGH. USU has hit on all 5 HC’s this decade. They got $4M out of Calhoun, but their next head coach *should* have a buyout in the double digits. You either retain your coach or get a massive payday.

@tonyannett Sort of. The real problem was that Detroit didn't understand that the Japanese were making better cars. Their cars were built to tighter tolerances. Their engines were built to last, not just last 100.000 miles. Detroit refuses to change. I buy Toyota/Lexus and BMW. They last.

In the 1970s, American car companies made a huge mistake - sticking with gas guzzlers when high oil prices led people to demand for fuel efficiency. They were overtaken by Japanese cars. Now they’re making the same mistake all over again- sticking with gas guzzling SUVs when EVs have become the superior technology. This time it’s China rather than Japan that will win.

Catastrophic insurance is actually what “insurance” is supposed to mean. Routine costs (doc visits, occasional urgent care, prescriptions, the sort of stuff that people predictably use) were paid in cash - and were cheaper because of it. INSURANCE was supposed to be for unpredictable costs, like getting cancer or hit by a bus. And catastrophic insurance was fantastic for that purpose without breaking the bank. “Insurance” for predictable, routine costs that most people incur is just called “paying overhead on top of expenses,” which is why most people carry accident insurance but not maintenance insurance on their cars. It wasn’t consumers who were stupid.
Launch! - Blue Haired Liberal@DBZYuYuYasha

@InezFeltscher Catastrophic insurance basically isn't insurance. That's why it was effectively banned. Most consumers don't understand how it would work and therefore it's not fit to sell.

@SharylAttkisson @DowdEdward This is becoming a serious issue. I just lost a former high school classmate on St. Patrick’s Day to it and found out yesterday that another classmate is in hospice. I don’t recall it ever being something that was as prevalent during my parent’s generation. What has changed??

Iran has made it clear that there is no going back to the way things were—crippling sanctions and constant threats from US military bases in the Gulf states. Given that political agreements are seen as meaningless and diplomacy as deceptive, Iran has decided that the US must be expelled from the region. The Gulf states cannot survive without access to the Strait of Hormuz; their access may therefore be conditioned on paying taxes as reparations and selling their oil in other currencies to end the petrodollar system that ties the US to the region. This war will prove to have been a historic mistake— as the effort to restore global primacy only intensified its demise. Yet in our local media, the propaganda is still organised around the saviour narrative of “liberating women” and “helping protesters”. This is similar to the absurd narrative of the Ukraine War, where the effort of using Ukrainians to impose a strategic defeat on Russia is sold to the public as NATO "helping" Ukraine defend its sovereignty. If the West wants to maximise its security and end these conflicts on favourable terms, it must break free from the narratives it has created.
