I'm just a girl, standing in front of a book, asking it to offer symbolic resolutions to real political and social contradictions

Jordan Himelfarb's INTERREGNUM was highly praised in @NewYorker this weekend! ♟️🧠 "Stories like the one that Himelfarb tells are reminders that the thing we really care about is not the end result." Check it out: newyorker.com/sports/sportin…

if i am talking to someone and i can tell they don’t understand something i just said but pretend they do to keep the conversation going, i really respect that.

I can finally share the cover and pre-order for my book, “Life After Ambition” - it’s a stunning design by Madeline Donahue whose work perfectly captures the joy, beauty and chaos of motherhood. Order your copy now! simonandschuster.com/books/Life-Aft…

a nanny at the drop-in, who’s seen me and my baby maybe 3x, said today that this was the first time she’s EVER seen him smile! the implication being i’m some monster who never makes her baby smile even tho he’s the happiest baby i have! drop ins are the thunderdome of parenting

When my younger was 3 she was awful all day we were supposed to go see a Dan Zanes show. I required an apology. After caucusing with her mother for awhile she finally agreed. Not to apologize. But to write the letter “S” for sorry on a scrap of paper. Which she threw at my feet.

@bananafitz Every time after I teach this story I go back to my office and lock the door and search Airbnb for former nurseries with barred windows and faded yellow wallpapers and set the nightly limit to $10,000 because I'll give anything, anything at all....
