Good day. The matter has been reported to the @NWA_JA . Several main corridors across the constituency are in need of repairs. I will continue to advocate for the repairs to be done quickly.

1/8 Big news for Jamaica: The UN High Seas Treaty (BBNJ) officially entered into force on Jan 17, 2026. Govt says we’re going all-in to maximize it. As an economist watching our blue economy closely, this could be a real game-changer. Here's the breakdown.

On Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee Day (January 9), Minister of State Honourable Alando Terrelonge (@terrelonge2016 ) joined other members of Government, coffee producers and coffee lovers alike, for a coffee replanting exercise in the Blue Mountains. The effort forms part of ongoing recovery work following Hurricane Melissa, led by the Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade through its external partnerships, helping to safeguard supply for long-standing foreign markets, including countries like Japan. Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee Day recognises Jamaican coffee as one of the country’s most distinguished global exports. Cultivated in the Blue Mountains, the coffee has become an ambassador of Jamaican flavor in markets abroad while reflecting generations of craftsmanship, quality, and care. The replanting underway now helps to protect that legacy while supporting livelihoods for local farmers.

194 years ago today, on 27 Dec 1831: Brilliantly planned in secret by #Jamaican freedom fighter Sam Sharpe, a war began; largest uprising in British West Indies, mobilising 60,000 of #Jamaica's 300,000 enslaved Africans. “The first fire, at Kensington Estate - on a hilltop 1,660 feet above sea level and visible for miles around - was soon accompanied by flames roaring to life at the nearby plantations Argyle, Lapland, Montpelier, and Retrieve, accompanied by noises of riotous celebration…The conch shell was heard to blow in every quarter.” #Jamaica #Caribbean en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baptist_W…

Minister of State Alando Terrelonge (@terrelonge2016) this morning met with His Excellency Berhanu Tsegayle Abera, State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, for bilateral discussions as the Government of Jamaica advances recovery and reconstruction efforts following Hurricane Melissa. Minister Terrelonge outlined the breadth of the hurricane’s impact, including economic shocks, disruptions to livelihoods and food security, and the wider pressures shaping national recovery. He welcomed the visit as a timely expression of solidarity and a clear indication of Ethiopia’s commitment to its partnership with Jamaica. Minister Terrelonge also spoke to Jamaica’s climate-related vulnerabilities and how they shape the country’s recovery path. He noted that the conditions the delegation will see in affected communities reinforce the need for climate financing, adaptation support, disaster-risk measures and loss-and-damage arrangements, which are areas Jamaica continues to advance through both bilateral partnerships and multilateral negotiations. #mfaftja 1/2
