@tkped @Sumo_Jason He’s never had his injured lag operated on, so the injury isn’t going to get better, and he can’t wrestle well enough with the injury to make it back to juryo (and a paycheck). He really has no option but to retire.

@tesol81 @Sumo_Jason I agree. I suspect he was determined to fight it out one last time, even though he was clearly incapacitated. Doing the honorable thing, showing up and giving it a go, and finishing it out. I'll be shocked if he doesn't hang up the mawashi this week.

So J12 Tsurugisho finished the Basho with a 0-15 record. Showed up and fought everyday for 15 days straight without a single win. Has that happened before? #sumo

@Hakkeyoi_Sumo I agree with you that the shimpan are awful as judges: lazy and incompetent. I disagree with you about Hoshoryu’s performance this basho, however: with both Onosato and Aonishiki mk this was a golden opportunity for him to win the yusho.

After them bailing Takerufuji out of Makekoshi against Dewanoryu, even though he pulled Dewanoryus hair 3 times, that man should shut his damn pie hole!
Shimpan that can't see three hairpulls in one bout are trash.
Hoshoryu showed excellent sumo this basho.
