絵本『くろのしっぽ』が発売になりました！ 昨年、講談社の国際企画編集チームでボローニャのブックフェアに行った際、初日のミーティングでチームのみんなが一目惚れした絵本。 フェアの会期中に編集長の李さんが、フェラーリ並の速さで現地即断。見事版権獲が叶い、出版へこぎつけた待望のタイトルです。わたしは編集を担当しました。 『くろのしっぽ』は、世界中にファンを抱えるアーティスト、カムウェイ・フォンさんの、はじめての絵本です。クアラルンプールで、たくさんの猫たちと暮らすカムウェイさんの絵は、猫への敬意と愛情に満ちていて、眺めていると幸せな気持ちに。 テス・トーマスさんが書かれた、おはなしもすてき。まわりに忖度しすぎずに、気持ちもしっぽも、自分らしく自由にそよがせていこう〜という気持ちになるこの絵本が、わたしは好きです。 「心をコントロールしすぎない」という、シンプルで大切なメッセージが書かれた『くろのしっぽ』は、何かとがんじがらめな昨今の空気をふわっとほどいてくれる、チャーミングな1冊です。子どもはもちろん、大人にも響く絵本になったなと思います。 翻訳は、おかだよしえさん。装丁・デザインは名久井直子さんです。 #くろのしっぽ #講談社 @kodansha_ehon #kamweifong #tessthomas #shibustail @LevineQuerido

As a kid reading Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse, I craved Mr. Slinger’s tasty curly and crunchy and cheesy snacks. As a parent now, it’s the same. Why are depictions of food in children’s books so appetizing?

I’ve been in New York for the past few days and too many education events and meetings have failed to discuss what’s happening in my country. This crisis should be the top item on the agenda of every meeting about education! Why is it not?

It’s a true privilege to stand alongside my sisters back home in Afghanistan and demand access to their basic right to education. Grateful of @malala for standing with us and adding power to our voice.
