Anthropic has disabled access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5, its two most advanced models, for all customers, after a U.S. government order restricting foreign access. I was in the middle of vibe coding up a new app, and amazed at how good Fable was working, when I got this screen. This is a surprising move, and it's sending shockwaves through the industry. This story is still developing, and it's already bigger than one company or one model. It raises major questions about governance, concentration of power, and what is the right way to manage the risks of AI. Whatever happens to these two models, a precedent is set, and the industry won't look the same. I imagine we'll see a lot unfolding over the next few days.
