Regardless of how highly rated he is.
The thing that swings it for me is Blackmore's Night. He was prepared to downsize his audience/tours/profile and do something he presumably enjoys and continue this path for about 30 years.

That said.... I have heard a lot of covers of Love Will Tear Us Apart that aren't great. JD made magic there.
