First-principles thinking for weighing in on controversial debates/posts should start with suffering and compassion. Where does the OP or commenter stand on human suffering and compassion? What I commonly see is that the OP/commenter tends to blame suffering on the opposition while holding compassion only for their own side, whereas I view suffering and compassion as something everyone shares.
