📢 Thai Immigration Bureau Announces Immigration Relief Measures for Foreign Nationals Affected by Middle East Airspace Closures Due to the ongoing fighting in the Middle East since 28 February 2026, airspace in parts of the region has been closed, preventing some foreign nationals from departing Thailand. To ease the hardship faced by travelers affected by these circumstances, Thailand has introduced temporary immigration measures for those whose permission to stay expired from 28 February 2026 onward. ✈️ Key Measures: 1️⃣ Overstay Fine Waived for Departures Foreign nationals who remain in Thailand with an expired permission to stay and wish to depart the Kingdom will have their overstay fines waived. No penalty payment will be required. 2️⃣ Temporary Stay Extension Available Foreign nationals wishing to extend their stay may apply for a temporary stay of up to 30 days per extension. If the permission to stay has already expired, immigration officers will first process the fine settlement in accordance with the law before considering the extension request. 📄 Required Documents for Extension: • TM.7 Application Form • Copy of passport or travel document • Letter confirming necessity from an embassy or consulate (or recorded statement if unavailable) • STM.2, STM.2/1, and STM.9 forms These measures are effective immediately and will remain in place until the situation returns to normal or an official order changes the policy.
