@akintollgate @NIGEMAMBA A part of it I would say relates to how different cultures view death. In an African office, most staff members would have attended the funeral. Generally there is a different sense of community and how we show up for each other which explains why you drove 7hrs.

My boss Chris who convinced me to join him at KPMG after we worked together at Deloitte, passed away about 5 months after I accepted the role. He delegated the PMO Office tasks to me about 3 months after I started and for the remaining 2 months, he stayed home battling a Cancer ailment that I wasn't aware of. We would talk about many things during my weekly 1:1 and onboarding , but one day I complained about excessive back pains. He too complained about the same and we attributed it to excessive airline travel and long hours in meeting chairs. A month later, my knees buckled as I was walking back to my car to catch a flight to Lagos. Instead of making it to the airport, I rerouted to the hospital and found out I had a kidney ailment. Didn't know this was the cause of my back pains that lingered for a year plus. My late boss would end up in a hospital after getting diagnosed for brain cancer. He passed away and it left me very distraught. I made sure to drive through snowy conditions to attend his funeral in Indiana. I arrived late at the funeral home after going to the wrong location. I met his wife and kids packing up the flowers to join family and friends at the reception. I gave his wife and the kids a hug, and she told me how she read the tribute I left on his memorial page. I later joined her and the kids at the reception for a quick sandwich and tea before heading back into my car for 7 hour drive home. Only one Director from the Nashville office took time to attend the funeral as most people didn't even react to his passing. Getting into the office the following Monday, it felt like Chris never existed as everyone had moved on with life so quickly. It taught me a lot about human behaviors. People will move on life, like you were never there!

Brand new building on Borrowdale Road. Interesting that they are doing traditional carport shading. Would have assumed that in 2025 with all this Electricity Rationing & high electricity tariffs (when power is available), a solar carport would be obvious.

From time to time, I teach business including new ventures at some of the world’s best business schools. I have been in business long enough to know that Tap And Go is not a sustainable business model. It will fail once its current funding source dries up. It is not scalable, has no sustainable growth prospects and will not be profitable. It will die sooner rather than later.
