Hindus and Muslims are two separate nations, and our coexistence has never been peaceful. Leftists and liberals had the opportunity to put an end to all future riots in 1947, but they were too obsessed with diversity and secularism, putting our future at risk.

@Akankshaj1292 You are justifying biased laws and injustice to an individual man because "there aren't enough women in workforce" so the individual man should accept injustice to himself.

@ShafeeqTurab @ErenYea04263043 @NaTurkNaHindu Why is that supposed to wrong when someone goes to a cult that has a history of destroying your temples and has inscribed hate in 98:6 telling how polytheists are worst among all creatures. Will she/he let her daughter marry a polytheist after becoming a muslim?

@ErenYea04263043 @NaTurkNaHindu to their muslim relative nor keep in touch with him/her or eat at his home. Seeing some of your own go into different religion is traumatic for many people. In my place if a Hindu converts to Islam; he/she is disowned from family relations and property share.

On the spatial Otherisation of Muslims in 18th c Marwar. While universal assumptions regarding communal segregation cannot be made, Divya Cherian deftly highlights how "Untouchability" expanded to Muslims (turak).

@Akankshaj1292 Not a good justification for biased laws. As an individual I want my rights and property protected instead to have biased laws because women aren't uplifted. The extra unpaid work was compensated by the money and streedhan she was provided during marriage.

@thar_ol Female labour force participation in India is still only ~30–40%, and many “working” women are in informal or unpaid roles without financial control. Add 3–7x unpaid work burden and “women are working” ≠ economic independence. Laws reflect the broader reality, not exceptions.

@Akankshaj1292 They aren't protecting individuals. In many countries laws are neutral and more sensible than India.

@thar_ol Laws do protect individual rights but they’re also designed to correct structural disadvantage. That’s true globally. Workplace safety laws, child protection laws, disability rights, senior citizen maintenance all recognise that some groups are more vulnerable in practice

I've a query, maybe lawyers can suggest better, though anyone can tell me their thoughts in this. I just want to know the overall thoughts. So someone i know, a lady, her granddad bought a house in Charni road area in 1900s . It's not a building but a 2 storeyed old buildings sort but very close to the sea with terrace facing the sea and garden area too. I don't know the value of that place but the house can be easily 400sq ft or so with common washroom for the floor, maybe between 4cr to 10 cr Now this lady's brother has been staying there for decades. There are 4 siblings with 3 sisters and this brother. Now suddenly this brother's kid wants this flat for himself as he's getting married so he told his dad and the lawyer was called. He told that NOC is required of these sisters. So this brother went to the sisters and he told he's too poor to give any hissa from the flat and max he can give 2 lakhs each in exchange of their sign. These sisters are all old now, 70+ and they are fine with it, though the lady came to me and told me all this and i thought she's being frauded. The place can be easily between 4 cr to 10cr even though it's very old. The brother refuses to sell this flat but keeps on saying they are v poor. There's no paperwork saying the flat belongs to any of the siblings, it's just passed on from grandad to their father to them. The brother stays there by default. So my question is, what are your thoughts of this situation? What can be done?

@Akankshaj1292 Laws should be for individual and protects their individual rights. Not to treat people as representative of their groups. Else a wronged person, who you perceive to be privileged, will have to take justice by thrir own.

@thar_ol I’m a working woman. My mom works. But my mother-in-law doesn’t, my grandmother didn’t,my relatives don’t both realities exist in my own family. Your circle isn’t India. Most women still aren’t financially independent and do 3–7x unpaid work Laws are made for the majority reality
