Snake was part of the Varangian guard a Nordic and Anglo-Saxon guard for the Byzantine empire. 2 Turkey didn’t exist the Turks hadn’t migrated to Anatolia so the land was still Greek AND snake wasn’t FROM THERE said in the source material.
