Three papers currently under review could completely change why we think Jamestown died. If they’re accepted, you’ll get the PDFs in your inbox the minute the editor says yes — no paywall, no waiting. Sign-up Link → thatthingido.kit.com

I'm not going to waste this fleeting visibility I've been gifted...who has a line on a literary agent looking for historical non-fiction? I've got some groundbreaking research on Jamestown that would be very interesting in print.

@blogagog I'm a historian, not a scientist. It works differently in my field.

@thatthingido2 Aren't you working for them when you are getting your phd? If so, the discoveries are theirs, just like at a corporation, I think.

@ChrisExpTheNews Yeah, I'm going to need to know how they did this. I'm a student, not a professor, so if this is a possibility for me, I need to protect my discoveries.

@DissidentM4n They said noone works alone, so to publish as a solo author is selfish

@thatthingido2 I am curious, how did they try to spin this as being selfish? I am very interested in the rational they tried to use.

When I get bored, I research. And when I research, I discover. I have 4 journal articles in various stages of review and publication atm, with a 5th in progress. In thinking forward, I honestly wonder what I am going to do with myself when I'm finished with my PhD.

I've been buried in preparing for History Comps for the last couple of weeks and it paid off! 6 hours to write a 17-page paper worth 415 points, a whopping 41% of my total grade for the class. I scored a 100%🥳

@fw_naetoblaq So, since I'm both science and history smart, do they cancel each other out?

@inertia186 More that an entire generation is now labeled intellectually inferior, low IQ, and this doctor is claiming their cognitive decline is permanent.

To any future historians reading this, this era will make a lot more sense if you remember that every name is the opposite of what it really is. The antifascists are fascists, the antiracists are racists, the fact-checkers are propagandists, etc. Hopefully this has been fixed by your time.

@PhD_Genie The supervisor. I'm aiming for the heads of colleges on my committee and they are all connected to major private companies who can hire me when I graduate.

@john_w_leopard @MushtaqBilalPhD I strongly believe that the moment just 1 journal breaks ranks and starts paying people, all hell will break loose. They will go down fighting to keep every cent of those billions.

THIS. Educators believed that if kids were in a positive environment, they would just figure it out, that if they were taught the CONCEPT of reading, they would be able to figure out how to read. Teaching concepts is college-level education, it's not meant for 5 year olds.
Hannah Ward 👩🏻‍🏫 Mom (x3) | Learning Designer@HannahWardEdu

The reading scores are abysmal for one very specific reason. It's driving me a little bonkers to see all these excuses that are avoiding the problem. It's not COVID, cell phones, or kids speaking English as a second language. It's that they're not teaching kids to actually read.
