BOOKS READ IN 2023; [a thread]

as someone who's read a lot, like a lot of french history, this is the most french thing i've ever seen.

I'm just gonna be real and say as a Mexican student at Harvard whose parents didn't go to college who hung out with primarily Latine students of similar backgrounds that the people least qualified to attend imho were the legacies and the rowers.

My neighbour has been away this week and sent me a photo of this amazing second hand book vending machine. How cool is this? #BookTwitter

Reading Beowulf for British LIT again and I must not have absorbed it the first time I read it because I remember none of this 😳

@lilslibrary I do both. I use my kindle mostly for libby rentals and ARCs.

i’ve seen a lot of people lately saying they use a kindle, do you guys usually read physical books or use e-readers/your phone?

Another editorial job in publishing has gone to a private-school-and-Oxbridge-educated person. Good luck to them, genuinely. But at least one working-class person applied for that job, and I wonder how many did? Publishing, diversity is only diversity if it actually happens.

@getreadinghomie It depends. I think if there’s constraints on the review, like the publisher wants it done by a particular date or if the publisher uses my post for their promo, yes, maybe. But otherwise no, I do it because I love to read and find people with similar opinions ☺️
