If you want to cultivate a diverse community, space, channel or business, there are some basic things white folks need to know. Been seeing and experiencing some pain points regarding this topic, and I wanted to offer some insight. A thread. 🧵

“If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you". Wise words that still ring true today spoken by an upstanding Texan, LBJ in 1964… let it sink in that it’s now 2026.

I saw this video on Viola Davis' instagram this morning and everyone needs to see it. The gutting of the VRA is the most significant attack on ALL civil rights in America in my lifetime, and after they already came for the women.. We better wake the fuck up. None of us is safe:

Because statistically remote voice casts are more culturally & ethnically diverse (sheer geography), it is required by the federal Americans with Disabilities Act that very basic accommodations be made for disabled artists like the ability to work remote when the infrastructure already exists, life milestones are not achievable for 95% of full-time actors (not counting wealthy families & wealthy vo spouses) will never be able to afford a home or children or even afford to live alone in a large city where that is achievable elsewhere, even hubs are experiencing the pinch as more productions go outside of hubs & outside of the US altogether so productions can find arguably better quality more affordable artists with less hassle & less attitude, I can keep going. LOL

@ClTYOFMON That part. Maybe they’re a dungeon master. Maybe they should try visual arts. Or maybe poetry. Not everyone has the skill to be an electrician, a doctor, a lawyer. Why would the arts be any different?

Nobody talks about the poverty premium. When you're broke: You can't buy in bulk no upfront cash. You pay more per unit at the corner store. You can't afford preventive care so small problems become expensive emergencies. You use payday loans 300-400% APR. You pay month-to-month on everything always the most expensive option. Bad credit means higher insurance rates, higher deposits, higher everything. Being poor is one of the most expensive things you can be in America. The less you have, the more everything costs. That's not irony. That's policy.

My speech on the Tennessee House Floor today as our state voted to eliminate Memphis's only majority Black congressional district.
Justice Democrats@justicedems

Everyone needs to watch @Justinjpearson's floor speech from the TN State House. "Today, you will take the only Black-majority district from us. But I want you to know: No matter what you do, no matter how much you try to break us & make us bend & quit — we will still be here."

I don't want "free healthcare." I want universal healthcare, paid for by MY taxes, that covers everyone and leaves no one bankrupt, sick, or dead because they can't afford the treatment.

AOC: “There’s a certain level of wealth and accumulation that is unearned. You can’t earn a billion dollars. You just can’t earn that. You can get market power, you can break rules, you can abuse labor laws, you can pay people less than what they’re worth, but you can’t earn that”

I don’t care how unrealistic you think it is. Black people are owed reparations.

BOB SOCK'EM was the 1st big instance of mixed-media we wanted to play with in our indie series & an example of how artsy our take on Alice is ( & a personal callback to how I had a decent collection of handmade sock-puppets in childhood 🤣 ) Crafted by the people at BUDSIES!

May 5th is Red Dress Day, a day dedicated to honouring and bringing awareness to the missing and murdered Indigenous women, children, and two spirited people that have been failed by a violent colonial system.

If capitalism truly rewarded skill or intelligence, the richest people would be neurosurgeons, engineers, and scientists. If it rewarded talent, it would be artists, writers, and creators. If it rewarded hard work, it would be cleaners, laborers, and service workers. But it’s none of them.
