@MarinaP63 @MillerLabMIT Spinogenesis in slice only happens as the neurons begin to die. Kristin Harris had a few papers, including one in which she showed spinogenesis to be dependent on slice prep itself.

@MillerLabMIT In fact it doesn't seem to fully foul up structure! All slice LTP studies are done under the conditions in which this rampant spine sprouting occurs, and the overall parameters seem to match (as well as one can measure) what happens in vivo, so synaptic organization doesn't crash
