I have a question on the Short-Term Rental legislation announced today... what about those people who already own multiple properties used as Short Term Rentals? Is there grandfathering or will they be forced to sell or use them for long-term rentals?

TL;DR: Gun Control in Canada is broken because the guns are controlled by the RCMP and Gun Ownership has become almost exclusively a right-wing activity with orgs advocating for gun ownership adopting right-wing American style tactics.

That's exactly it. In Canada, we've seen who has the guns and who doesn't. The training courses and licensing are run by the cops and by the conservative right and far right. This means that to arm yourself, you have to be trained by those who would kill you given the chance.

@RilezTweetsEsq The actual worst is when an old friend asks an urgent legal question for someone they just met about an area of law you don’t practice. Do they approach strangers saying “an friend of mine is a lawyer, tell me about yourself and spare no details, let’s see if we can stump him”?

Being a lawyer is just getting a Facebook message from a friend from high school or distant relative you have not seen in years that says “hey! been a while. Hope you are good. can I ask you a legal question?” every day until you die.

@CostaLaw @SainiLaw I don’t mean to sound harsh - I think your intentions are noble. It is just that, as someone who has failed at things in life, recognition of the gravity of the struggle is a greater form of empathy than making something hard sound easy or accessible to me.

@SainiLaw I disagree with you. A lot of people I know got great overtime. If u know how to read people,when to turn it up/down, know the file inside and out, and the law, it’s not an art. Saying that it’s an art, discourages some from believing they can be great at it.

@CostaLaw @SainiLaw Also, since when does the truth require itself to be encouraging to others? If that is your requirement for truth, the darkness of failure and suffering is around the next corner. People are going to fail at things - what they need is encouragement to keep trying, not a lie.

@CostaLaw @SainiLaw People can accomplish amazing things. Having to learn or practice how to use one’s natural ability doesn’t make the accomplishment any less great. Having done excellent examinations, I agree that reading people and turning it up/down is key. That is part of the art.

@SRLjmuller I provide inexpensive legal services. Why doesn’t LSBC standardize legal support staff qualifications and training, provide designated certification for law trust bookkeepers, and generally free lawyers up to practice law for less.

Should changes be made to who can provide legal services in BC? Lawyers will always be necessary and important but a large number of people don’t have access to any legal services. All British Columbians deserve access to legal services regardless of income. #hearmyvoice

@embel713 I mean, I also wear suits sometimes, but not as often as ensembles like this. I find dry cleaning suits to be bothersome.

@embel713 As a male lawyer, I always keep some new chinos in a few subtle colours that I can mix and match with a blazer or two. I keep long sleeve button up shirts in grey, black, and white. I wear ties that match pants and ensemble. This way, most of my court attire is machine washable.
