@theGrimWriter

I’m a new Indie writer. I write horror, mystery and thriller books. I am obsessed with watching horror movies and tv shows as well as playing a cozy horror game

Hi #writingcommmunity 👋 I write murder mysteries with a taste for the eerie — small towns, secrets, and someone always watching. Let’s connect. What do you write? #IndieAuthor #Author #Writer

When I started playing Dungeons and Dragons, I made a dwarf cleric named Drackore. When Everquest 1 came out, I made the same. EQ2, WoW, and other games, I made the same. Something hit me, and I started writing. My friends and family that beta/ARC read it all said the same thing - so this is you? I am Drackore.

@theGrimWriter Three If by Broomstick is set during colonial times & features a villainous witch working for the British, so I played on a quote by Paul Revere: a character notes that he should have said, "One if by land, two if by sea, & Three If by Broomstick!" #WritingCommunity #writing

@tabby_swan That’s not a bad idea. How did your story go around the name?

@theGrimWriter For my first book, I wrote down about 30 different ideas and whittled it down with the help of my family. The next two books had to match the theme of the first, so were easier to name.

@theGrimWriter Best advice I've ever received is "Lower your standards." At least for the first draft. Perfectionism makes the blank page feel more ominous than it really is.

@theGrimWriter My process is to start with a bad name that I like and change it at the last minute. That said, “Worst Possible Hero” sort of tells it like it is.

@ChrisC_Writes Agreed! Polishing is how you make your book whole and the best of your ability. 😊

Thursday morning hot take: You don't need a "perfect" first draft; you need a finished one. Polishing a blank page is impossible. Get the story down, mess and all, and let the editing (and your beta readers!) handle the rest. Agree or disagree? #WritingCommunity

@Pro__Author I kind of write for a mix of both. I write for myself as I love to write. But I also write for the readers as I hope to encourage others to read and help people be happy.

@AuthorGFAllen I prefer unfold organically. I’ve tried outlining and planning and it just never works. The story feels plan and the characters are flat. What about you?

#WritingCommunity I’m still in the writing phase but I would like to hear from other’s what they experienced well getting published. How hard was it? How long did it personally take you? Did you traditional publish or self publish? #writingtips #writingq
