I know axe-core has some logic to determine the stacking context (#L42-L44" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">github.com/dequelabs/axe-…) maybe @wilcofiers could clarify? I'd also be curious to see if axe Pro's automatic color contrast reviewer resolves this for you.

We just released a new feature in the axe DevTools browser extension! Our machine learning algorithms now determine if any “needs review” color contrast issues from an automatic scan are, in fact, #a11y issues or not. #GAAD2022 deque.com/blog/axe-devto…

@dequesystems This issue is fixed now. v4.29.1 is the patch release containing the fix and should be rolling out to everyone today! Sorry for the inconvenience

Extension Users: A recent browser update broke a few of the Intelligent Guided Tests in the axe DevTools extension. We implemented a fix on Friday and this issue should be resolved in Chrome and Edge soon.
