The Moana live-action remake was barely worth tweeting about tbh… “It’s the same movie!” No, no… it’s the same story. They stripped away so much of the heart and visuals instead of trying to recapture that magic in this setting. It all adds up to a pretty lackluster experience. Why watch a (significantly) lesser version of a truly magnificent film? Is it atrocious? No. Maui and Moana herself are “rock” solid… BUT I still prefer the original in every way, which makes this 1:1 remake feel pretty irrelevant.
