STATEMENT FROM THE LABOUR PARTY LABOUR PARTY FINALLY LIBERATED BY PETER OBI'S DEFECTION ... As Party asks forgiveness from Nigerians for fielding unfitting presidential candidate in 2023 The leadership of the Labour Party took note of the defection of its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi and a few of his supporters to the African Democratic Congress, ADC. We also took note of the lacklustre speech Mr. Obi made at the occasion, and wondered what new he intends to sell to Nigerians. For us in Labour Party, we wondered why it took them this long to make the move because we have since September 2024, parted ways with Peter Obi and some of his blind supporters in the National Assembly. We have patiently waited for this day. The party is finally liberated by this defection and as Party leaders, we count it as a blessing. It will be on record that the leadership of the Labour Party had since urged Obi and his disgruntled followers to exit the party if they were unable to work with the leadership of the party. As a matter of fact, the party had suspended many of the lawmakers for anti party and was clearly going to mete the same treatment on the Presidential Candidate but for the intervention of some well meaning Nigerians. The crisis we had in Labour Party was caused by Peter Obi and the Abia state governor, Dr. Alex Otti. It was them that sponsored the insurrection against the Julius Abure leadership. We had also expected Governor Otti to follow Obi out of the party. We are surprised that even though he has been suspended from the party, he is still loitering around. It is still not too late for him to follow his political leader. The party also warned that the charade which took place today in Enugu was largely boycotted by prominent political and traditional institutions in the South East. All we saw were mere political spent forces who cannot win in their wards should there be an election today. This is clearly a danger signal that the Obi presidency (or Vice Presidency) is already a failed project from inception. He has clearly lost the charm that had endeared him to the people prior 2023. He must be told that the South East lost out completely in the President Ahmed Tinubu's government because they trusted and believed in him in 2023. While some states of the federation boast as much as five ministers, the entire states in the South East was given a paltry five ministerial slot. The marginalization against the zone has continued even in infrastructure allocation and I wonder if the Southeast will repeat the same political harakiri again. Finally, we urge Nigerians to watch out for the Labour Party. We gave Nigerians a candidate we thought was good for the nation in 2023, but time has since proved that we made the greatest political mistake. We plead for forgiveness from Nigerians. Lord, I am especially grateful for the life of this brother. Thank You for keeping him, for the strength and brightness he has always carried. Thank You for the gift of life, for every breath, for hope, for purpose. We thank You because his life is a testimony of Your grace, and his future is held securely in Your hands (Jeremiah 29:11). Today, I come before You in faith, believing that You are the Lord who heals (Exodus 15:26). You know every pain, every disease, and every emotional or spiritual burden. Father, let Your healing power flow through his body, mind, and spirit. Mammon Never Gives What It Promises, THE SERVITUDE OF MAMMON, Part Six Remember, Mammon always introduces itself as a solution. That it will remove pressure. That it will give you peace. That if you just hold on to this money, security, control, advantage life will finally feel stable. But Mammon has never kept that promise. Not once. Ask the people who chased it hardest. They did not find rest. They found anxiety. They did not find peace. They found fear of losing what they gained. Mammon does not calm the heart. It teaches the heart to worry constantly. Because once Mammon becomes your safety, you must protect it. Everything becomes measured. Guarded. Calculated. Mammon gives you something to lose and calls it blessing. It tells you, “Now you’re secure,” but the moment you have it, you are terrified it can be taken. That is not peace. That is bondage. Mammon also promises significance. It tells you that you will finally be respected. Finally listened to. Finally valued. But Mammon does not make people love you. It makes them use you. They are near you for what you have, not who you are. And deep down, you know the difference. So you laugh, but feel lonely. You succeed, but feel unseen. Then Mammon promises control. It says, “At least this way, you won’t be disappointed again.” But control is a cruel comfort. It removes hope. It removes expectation. It removes childlike faith. You stop believing GOD for things because you’ve trained yourself to only trust what you can manage. And slowly, your world gets smaller. This is the truth people need to hear: Mammon does not ruin people overnight. It shrinks them. It turns worshipers into managers. Dreamers into calculators. Sons into survivors. And Gehazi is proof. He did not look happier with silver. He looked emptier. Because Mammon never adds joy. It only adds weight. GOD, on the other hand, asks for trust but He gives rest. He asks for You To Surrender to Him, but He gives peace. He asks you to let go but He gives Himself. And this is the question that must pierce the heart: What has Mammon actually done for you? Has it healed your fear? Has it made you kinder? Has it made you free? Or has it made you cautious, tight, and constantly afraid of losing ground? Mammon looks good at first because it asks for nothing but agreement. But once you agree with it, it owns your nerves, your sleep, your decisions, your joy. This is why JESUS was not dramatic when He said you cannot serve both. He was merciful. Because He knew Mammon would promise you life and quietly drain it away. The tightness. The tiredness. The sense that life has become heavier, not lighter. That is Mammon. And GOD is calling you away from it to make you free again. Because whatever steals your rest, steals your worship. I’ve been on birth control for over 2 years now (as an unmarried woman) and it’s honestly one of the best decisions I have made. It’s called being SEXUALLY RESPONSIBLE. Birth control is healthcare. Getting pregnant because you refuse to use contraception out of shame is the real madness.
