@EmporiumPixels @PokemonTCGDrops All these machines have cameras on them. There's a world where they use face scanning and link that to an account. They could even limit purchases across multiple machines to stop people from hitting a bunch of machines too.

@lowcountrydilpo @PokemonTCGDrops I've seen some local shops do pick up only pre orders at MSRP. So worth looking around your area for that. But otherwise, the PC preorders are a good bet in terms of price.

@JimSproch @Zhuinden @oguzhandogd @arpadietoth @Chilmeister It'd be great to get your official position on some of these things in a blog post or something similar. I personally have found remember and effects to be best when used sparingly. Though I may not have the same reach or authority as you on the matter, Jim.

@Zhuinden @oguzhandogd @arpadietoth @Chilmeister Yes, `remember {}` is the original poison and is over used. The thing about remember is that there are a few legitimate use cases for it (eg. evanescent things, like animations), but it is largely overused and should generally be avoided when possible.

I'm still amazed by how Jetpack Compose requires such aggressive marketing to make it seem good that anyone who doesn't like it has its posts removed. You know, just to make it seem like Jetpack Compose is amazing, and everyone loves it, it is flawless and everything works 100%.

@chrisbanes Tell me about it, had to do this recently for a project. Scheduled local notifications are a disaster on Android.

Task: Post a local notification at a specific time iOS: Less than 10 lines of code, ezpz Android: Need to set an alarm for the given time, create a BroadcastReceiver to run, create a NotificationChannel, and finally post the notification. About 150 lines. 🤦

@theRyanSimon We don’t really have a lead platform as such, we had a lead ‘technology’. We iterate with CMP on both platforms.

This is basically the approach we’ve been using: The app navigation is ‘native’ on each platform. We implement each ‘screen’ in Compose Multiplatform, allowing us to iterate with UX until everyone is happy. If there’s a reason to port it to native UI (perf, UX, etc), we do so.
John O'Reilly@joreilly

A while back, when it was first announced, I was quite sceptical about sharing Compose code on iOS (for technical and non-technical reasons). I still think SwiftUI will be used in most cases but it's very useful to have option of using Compose for subset of UI that makes sense.

@joreilly Super cool to see this! I do like SQLDelight more for new projects but totally makes sense for existing Android projects trying to share more code.
